Matt’s P.O.V

“I need that info Matt” a man shouted down the phone to me

“I know you do Chase but it’s not the right time to talk to him” I replied calmly

“Matt...” Chase paused “Tell me where my son is, or I swear I will find you and I will tear you limb from limb even if it’s the last thing I do, so let’s try this again... Where’s my son?” Chase sounded angry, and he had a temper, he always had had a temper, just like Tilyer did.

“Chase... please calm down”

“I WILL NOT CALM DOWN” this time shouted louder than before and I heard his fist smash down onto a table or wherever he was.

“He’s fine Chase” I was trying to reassure him

“Matt, you’re a great friend and all, but you just told me my son who I haven’t seen since he was a small child isn’t where I left him and he could be in danger, how the fuck am I supposed to be calm?” He sounded furious, but at the same time sick with worry.

That was Chase for you, he was a good man with a good heart, would do anything to protect his family, especially his kid, even if it meant leaving for the majority of his life, but when it came down to it, Chase was a badass, if you stood in his way he would tear you up, literally... and if you insulted him or his family, he would probably give you two teeth less as a reminder to shut your mouth next time you insulted someone, but he was none other than my friend, if not one of my best friends, we had known each other  a long time and even if our lives were very different, we still kept in contact.

“So where is he?” Chase repeated

“Chase I don’t think it’s a go-”

“Tell me you bastard” he shouted again cutting me off

“I’ll text you his address” I gave in, how bad could it be to give him his kids address?

“Thank you” Chase replied quickly “How is he?”

“He’s doing fine Chase, just don’t fuck this up”

“How would I fuck this up?”

“I don’t know Chase, but you could” I sat back down in my chair and sighed “Look... just try not to scare the kid off”

“I won’t...” Chase sounded quite... almost sad “I won’t fuck this up, he’s my kid, and I need to spend time with him.”

“Good, well I have to go; got some people I need to take care of ok?”

“Sure” Chase said slowly “Keep the kids safe” and with that he hung up.

Chase was a shape shifter, he was good, but he had a rough time dealing with it I guess, his first shift wasn’t the nicest story but it was his, and not everyone had a nice story.

I placed my mobile back in my pocket and stared blankly at the names on my sheet of paper. Sam and Ellie... two more shape shifters, they shifted for the first time a few days ago and I was getting ready to pay them a visit, a friend of mine had seen their shift, and when I say see I mean dreamt it, he did that, he dreamt of people shifting before they actually did, if it was worth it we went out and tried to find them, but that was the extent of anyone’s powers, we were lucky. He was the only one who could do that, and soon to be the last, after him we knew of no one else... it was sad really but life goes on I guess, and powers die out... become legends.

I planned on giving them to Tilyer, well... make them join, of course I couldn’t make them join but I could offer it to Tilyer if Sam and Ellie agreed to leave their homes, and of course if Tilyer said no I’d need to ask one of the other packs but somehow I doubted Tilyer would say no to them.

I sat back and sighed again, I was tired, between nearly getting killed over the phone by Chase and having to worry about these two, I still had Tilyer to worry about, I knew Mark had fought them, Chris had phoned me up, but I didn’t know how Tilyer was... should I call him? I looked at my pocket contemplating whether or not to call Tilyer.

I soon decided against it and got up. I’d call him later, right now I needed to find Chase and talk to him in person... We had a lot to talk about.
