I stood in front of my locker... locker 196. What was so special about this locker? Well... it had served me for nearly 5 full years, 196 was 14², and 96 was the year I was born in.
It had once held my P.E kit, some tech projects and anything else I needed kept. Now it was empty, just a shell.
I had dumped all my tech projects into the bin next to my locker and was holding my P.E kit.
I sighed as I closed my locker. I detached the key from my keychain and held it... I wasn’t really going to be missed much. I shoved the key back in the lock and left it.
“Heys, you left your key by the way.” Chris said standing next to me as I was about to leave.
“Hey, you ok Chris?”
“Yeah, but um we have to talk man.” His voice made him seem worried, scared even, he was talking pretty fast and unevenly.
“Yeah what, it’s Friday man, we are meeting up with Alex and Chey tomorrow and I’ll say bye to the love birds then, and I’ll see you as well then, and by the way, I feel sorry for you man, because I'm pretty sure that those two are going to stick close to each other, you know since they are going out, and I'm worried you will be left out, make sure that don’t happen ok.” I replied thinking I knew what he was going to say.
“Umm... Tilyer... I mean I need to tell you something...” he replied quietly and slowly
“What?” I looked at him waiting.
“Um... I don’t know what this means, if it does mean anything but I thought you might know if it does mean anything. Last night... I had the strangest feeling ever. I felt like my whole body was being filled with a liquid and then it felt like it all flowed out, I don’t know, it just felt weird, and this guy is really annoying me, I just want to punch him round the face ugh anyways like I was say-” I grabbed Chris’s arm before he finished speaking and started to drag him away. It was lunch time and this meant we could still get away, we weren’t in lessons, it was lunch, we were outside and nobody would see anything.
“No, no, no, NO” I said to myself, shouting the last no in frustration.
“What’s going on? Where are we going? Why are you dragging me? Tilyer...” He was worried, nothing could hide that.
We walked past the bike sheds and I checked left, right, and behind me for teachers, when I was sure the coast was clear I made a break for it still holding on to Chris.
“Look Chris, you are not going to like what you hear.”
“Tilyer, I'm worried now what the heck is going on?”
I let go of him “Run.... NOW” I shouted and we sprinted all the way to the woods near the lake. Chris could hardly keep up, as a wolf I got a ton more exercise and it meant I was a lot stronger and faster.
“Wait up Tilyer.” I heard Chris shout from behind me.
“What” I snapped as I turned round “Listen Chris, right now I don’t want this ok, and I certainly hope I'm wrong about you, GOT THAT.” I was furious; my best friend could end up having his life messed and have to follow me.
“What, what can be so bad?”
“Shut up and follow me, now, I don’t want to waste any time.”
We ran in silence the rest of the way, when we got to Jerry’s house I simply entered the house knowing I would find Matt and that Carla and Jerry didn’t mind me coming in and out all the time, and now they didn’t care if I skipped school anymore, I was going to be leaving soon enough.
