Lucia's POV
Finding clothes to wear is so damn hard for me. I'm not big, but I'm not skinny either. I guess I can say I'm thick. I'm trying to find an outfit for school right now, but I can't find anything.
I just go with the usual plain t-shirt, black leggings, and black Converse.
I'm a 16-year-old girl who is a junior in high school. I had high hopes that the boys my grade will be more mature this year, but I thought wrong. I guess some things never change.
I've been with these groups of kids every since I was in 4th grade, so we all basically grew up together.
I have a younger sister named Summer and an older brother named Rick. Summer is a year younger than me, and Rick is a year older than me.
We all have to ride the bus to school because our parents don't believe in wasting their time driving us.
I'm rushing to the bus stop, jogging up the hill to the stop sign. There's only one other girl who is at our bus stop with us. Nichole is her name. She's the same age as me, but I don't really talk to her.
The bus finally arrives, and Summer barely makes it in time. She always takes forever in the morning.
---
Rick walks off to his friends while Summer and I split up because our lockers are on opposite sides of the school. I'm walking through the halls and wave hi to a few of my fellow classmates.
I don't really like to label anyone as my friends. I just know of everyone in the school, but I have one person I acquaint myself with. Nya is her name, and we met in Chemistry class freshman year.
I go to my locker and gather all my materials that I need for my classes.
"Hey Lucia!" Mya appears next to my locker.
"Uhh, hey Mya" Why so cheery for?
"I heard that there's going to be a field trip soon in World history class" she grins.
Being a high schooler sucks, we hardly get any class field trips like we use to in elementary and middle school.
I couldn't help but be excited as well.
"Bullshit. You're not lying to me right?" I raise an eyebrow at her.
"You know, you curse a lot" Mya changes the subject.
"Mya, all I said was bullshit. Calm down. It's not my fault you're a child of God and can't even say "s.hit" or "f.uck" out loud" I lightly bump my hip with her hip.
We rush to class because the warning bell goes off.
---
I only have one class with Mya, but it's alright because I have other people I can talk to in my classes.
It's 2nd period, world history, my only class with Mya.
"Hey hoe" I take a seat next to her.
"What's up Rooster" Mya looks up from her desk.
I can't help but laugh at the nickname she has for me. I don't know how she came up with that but every since freshman year she's been calling me Rooster.
"Okay class, I have a permission slip to pass out. We're going on a field trip to the wax museum in downtown New Jersey, just 40 minutes away. Today's Friday so have these slips back by Monday because the trip is on Tuesday" Mr. Caps hands out the permission slips.
---
It's lunch time, and I take out my lunch from my locker and walk to my usual spot in the lunch room. I see Mya sitting there with her food looking miserable.
"Someone looks bored " I plop down in a seat next to her.
"Dude, I'm so tired. I'm about to fall asleep" Mya's eyes start to close.
I ignore her and just stare at Summer from across the lunch room. She has always had more friends than me because she's social while I'm not. She gets invited to go to social gatherings like birthday parties and what not because she's "popular".
Being popular is just another word for being well known. I don't know why everyone strives to be "popular". It's stupid how we label eachother.
---
I get home with Summer and Rick trailing behind me. We all know to be quiet because our mom is sleeping for work and will be up soon. Our dad is an engineer and leaves for work right before we get home.
We're pretty much home alone most times unless our parents have the day off.
Summer and I search the kitchen for food and sit down in the living room together with our snacks.
"Guess what happened in 3rd period today" Summer stuffs her face with popcorn.
"What? Mrs. Ruff finally admitted she was pregnant?" I say.
"Even better, that bitch went into labor! Her water broke and spilled all over Julie Decks damn desk!" Summer laughs.
"No fuckin way, if I was Julie I would have thrown up" I cry due to laughing too hard.
"Well I'm going on a field trip on Tuesday" I tell Summer how my day went.
"Lucky ass! I wish I could go" she whines.
"I know. I just need mom to sign my permission slip" I get out the slip.
"I need to sign what?" My mom wakes up to go to work.
She's a doctor and works night shifts.
"Here, sign my permission slip" I hand her the paper.
"Well give me a pen, what am I going to sign it with!? My blood!?" She motions her arms around.
I groan and get out a pen for her. She signs it and leaves for work. Thank goodness because me and Summer don't like it when our parents are home.
