The guests were all starting to arrive and I was a little star struck to be honest. Blake Shelton and his wife Miranda Jason Aldean and wife Britney Cole Swindell, FGL, and loads more people. Blain and his wife Leah who was pregnant. She seemed really nice I think I could get on well with her.
I was in the kitchen clearing up some glasses and putting out some more food, these country folks sure can eat. I felt arms snake around my waist and I said,
"Hey baby"
"Hey yourself" I turned round quick and it wasn't Luke it was Carter. I pushed his arms away and said
"What do you think you are doing Carter" he looked at me and said
"I was wondering if you would like to go out sometime, like on a date?"
I didn't know what to say I had to let him down gently,
"That's mighty nice if you Carter but I'm kinda seeing someone, it's early days and we aren't public yet, but I think I'm falling in love with him, in so sorry" he looked disappointed and replied
"It's OK honey, I should have known that a pretty girl like you would have been taken, I am truly sorry"
I actually felt bad for him he was so sweet,
"Is he here tonight, because when I put my arms around you, you said hey baby"
Oh shit, I started to panic what do I say, I needed to tell him,
"It's Luke but please do not tell anyone, he wants to keep it quiet just now, so please I beg you don't say anything"
I started to regret what I said but with the smile on Carters face made me feel at ease
"Oh honey don't worry if there was anyone I would rather loose you to it would be Luke, he is my best friend and I love him like my own brother, I am so happy for you" he gave me a hug, and I heard a cough,
"Luke...... It's not what you think"
He looked mad as hell,
"Buddy she is telling the truth, she just told me about y'all and I was congratulating her, and word of advise don't keep that one secret for long" I looked over to him and saw a smile creep on his face as he walked over to me and engulfed me in a hug kissing me, he turned to Carter and said,
"Don't worry I plan on telling everyone soon."
Carter left and me and Luke and another sneaky kiss, he headed out to the back yard. I grabbed a bottle of beer and headed out back. I sat next to Leah,
"Hey I'm Katie, Luke's housekeeper, how you doing"
"Hi I'm Leah, and honey I see the way he looks at you, you are definitely more than a housekeeper, I have known Luke for 7 years and I have never seen him look at anyone the way he looks at you" I blushed
"Is it that obvious" she laughed and said
"Crystal clear hahahahaha" we sat and chatted and she told me she was having a little boy in 4 months time and that Luke was going to be godfather.
The night was well underway and the entertainment was fantastic, well why wouldn't it be with all this talent in one room.
I was dancing up on the tailgate with Miranda when Luke walked over no put out his hand for me,
"Katie would you like to dance?"
I just looked him and smiled
"Yeah I would love that "
We walked over to the dance area and Earl Thomas Conley, What I'd Say started playing and Luke and I both said at the same time
"I love this song"
We started dancing and Luke leaned in a said
"Fuck this I'm not hiding this any longer"
He leaned in a kissed me it was like we were the only two people in the world. I could here cheering in the distance and realised it was because we were kissing, we didn't care.
Luke leaned his head against mine and said
"Katie Ryan will you be my girlfriend"
"Of course I will Luke"
