Luke and I had a brilliant time down in Florida it was good just relaxing and doing absolutely nothing. We are heading back home but we are stopping off in Luke's hometown of Leesburg, as I haven't seen his old haunts since we have been together. He is going to show me when me where he used to live and where he went to school as well as a little tour of the infamous Muckalee Creek and the Flint River. We were going to stay overnight in Albany before heading home to our baby.
We arrived in Leesburg at just gone midday and it was a beautiful little town.We pulled into the 3 squares diner for so brunch. Luke ordered the The Mansion Platter and I ordered the Ribeye Steak
And it was the best food I have ever tasted,
"I told you, you would love this place baby" Luke said as he held my hand across the table. This little old lady came over to the table,
"Thomas Luther, is that really you"
Luke stood up and gave her a hug,
"Miss Emily, oh my god, I haven't seen y'all since I left for Nashville"
"And you are doing well since my boy, all grown up. I still remember you playing up and down with your little red dirt bike"
I laughed,
"And this must be your beautiful wife"
Luke turned and introduced me to her,
"Miss Emily this here is Katie, my rock"
I almost cried when he called me that
"Oh nice to meet you Katie, aren't you glowing."
I smiled
"Well thank you. Why don't you sit down and join us"
"Oh thank you dear but I'm working, why don't you and Thomas come over to my place tonight and we can catch up, in fact y'all can stay over I have a big house and it's only myself there"
I looked at Luke and smiled giving my blessing,
"That would be lovely Miss Emily, just wait till I tell Mama that I met up with you"
We said our goodbyes and told her we would come past after 7 and she said she would make us her famous fried catfish, which got Luke really excited.
We headed towards the muckalee creek and I have seen some beautiful sites but this one area was stunning"This is where I came when I heard about Chris dying" said Luke as his eyes started to fill up.
I wrapped my arms around him, "Come and it in the pier with me baby"
We walked over and we sat in the pier looking out into the water, Luke handed me an alcohol free beer and he had a miller. He raised it up and said
"This is for you Chris, I miss you everyday"
He then started to sing the song that brings a tear to my eye every time.
When I got the news today
I didn't know what to say.
So I just hung up the phone.I took a walk to clear my head,
This is where the walking led
Can't believe you're really gone
Don't feel like going homeSo I'm gonna sit right here
On the edge of this pier
Watch the sunset disappear
And drink a beerFunny how the good ones go
Too soon, but the good Lord knows
The reasons why, I guessSometimes the greater plan
Is kinda hard to understand
Right now it don't make sense
I can't make it all make senseSo I'm gonna sit right here
On the edge of this pier
Watch the sunset disappear
And drink a beerSo long my friend
Until we meet again
I'll remember you
And all the times that we used to...... sit right here on the edge of this pier
And watch the sunset disappear
And drink a beer
Drink a beer,
Drink a beer.We sat holding one another until it started get dark,
"Come on baby let's get to Miss Emily, where you will you taste the best catfish in Georgia, well other than Mamas"
