Charon was right when he said Hades was not in a good mood. At least he didn't blast us or something. Persephone was trying to calm him down.
"You demigods always come at the wrong times. Give me a good reason why I should let you leave alive."
"We were sent on a quest to stop the fighting between you and Demeter." I said standing up facing Hades.
"Daughter of Hecate. The rest of the underworld may like you but I do not. You may have done me a few favors in the past. Your mother is reasonable. But you are needy. I believe the only reason you even help us with the problem that one time was because you wanted to be known as a helper."
I couldn't believe what he was saying. I was needy. He was one of the gods that I had to help so the world wouldn't starve. From what I could tell I helped him at least one time. What was wrong with him?
He seemed to have read my mind. He had a nasty grin on his face. Note to self, I thought, don't let idiot gods get to your head. Whatever.
"What is wrong with being a helper?" I asked.
"You Zoe are not a helper. You want the attention."
"Let's focus on the task at hand, shall we?" Said Persephone cutting in.
"Persephone." I said with a head bow.
"I know this might be a crazy idea but I was thinking what if you apologized to Demeter. Maybe tell her that you going to the underworld has nothing to do with Hades and there is no reason to be mad at him. Maybe promise something for her."
"Oh Zoe. I admire you. But I don't think that will work. It is simply not that simple. I have told her that it is my choice to come down here and that I love him. But you see. She thinks Hades has brainwashed me."
"With all do respect Persephone. You did make a deal. You stay with Hades one third of the year and the rest with your mom. I see that it would be reasonable to maybe visit him, but not really stay with him."
"I am aware of the deal Zoe." She said almost angrily.
"Persephone do not worry about Zoe." Said Hades. "She is only doing this quest for herself. Once she has completed it she will get her memories back."
I thought about his words. Was he right? Would I have gone on this quest if not for the prize waiting at the end of it. But then again, it wasn't my fault that I didn't have my memories. Don't let him get to your head Zoe.
I had to get at least Persephone to agree to this. Maybe I could bribe her. What would a goddess possibly want? A bunch of flowers. A new garden. But then I had an idea.
I bowed to Persephone again. "I have a proposal for you Persephone." I said. I thought about how one time Hecate told me gods would be nothing without demigods. "If you can make peace with you mother I will do you a favor. It will be a one time thing. If you need help from a demigod, simply ask me and I will do it for you."
Hades laughed but Persephone nodded her head. "Let's shake on it." She said. I shook her hand. "Well I will go talk to my mother. Hades will you send Logan, Bianca, and Analyse back to camp half blood. Send Zoe to Mount Olympus." Hades looked annoyed but he nodded. Persephone dissipated and the smell of flowers was left behind.
Hades rolled his eyes. He looked at Bianca, Logan, and Analyse. He snapped his fingers and they were gone.
"We are still not friends Zoe. But I will do what Persephone tells me to for now." The last thing I saw was him snap his fingers.
