I wasn't very tired when I started to get ready for bed. I had been sleeping the whole day but I knew I had to get some rest because Logan and I would be traveling tonight. When everyone called lights out I laid in bed thinking about Aesop and our conversation. If Logan was right we did have to leave tomorrow. Right once I had came here I wanted to leave but now I wasn't so sure. I had had a lot of fun here only in one day. I felt like I had a family and now I had to leave.
I don't know how long I was awake until I finally fell asleep. I had a dream, well it was more like a nightmare. In it I saw Aesop preparing something. He was talking to another guy who was very buff and was bald. They seemed to be building something. It had traps I could tell, and at the very bottom I saw fire that was burning green. I realized it was greek fire, though I didn't know how I knew that. They covered it with a cobblestone floor and Aesop held a button in his hand. Once he pressed the red button, the cobblestone disappeared. There was no sound in my dream but Aesop had a mischievous smile. On the side of the wall I saw a bunch of targets lined up as if at an archery range.
I woke up feeling nervous for the day. I put on my clothes for the day and stuffed everything I owned into my pack, which to say isn't much. I followed all the rest of the girls out to breakfast and walked with Katie and Emma. Once we got to the dining hall we sat at the same table and with the same people as yesterday. I ordered yogurt and pancakes with strawberries. I felt a little to sick to eat though. Some of the people at our table were talking but Logan and I were silent.
Aesop announced that 7th and 8th years were doing archery today with the buff guy I saw in my dream.
Once Logan and Pete and I started walking to archery I told Logan we would have to leave now. Pete seemed to understand as we left him. Logan pulled out his glowing string and it showed us a path and we followed it in silence for what seemed like hours.
"We're here." Said Logan breaking the silence. In the distance I heard footsteps, very loud footsteps. They seemed to be running towards us.
"So how do we get to the surface?" I asked frantically.
"See the light up ahead? We have to walk up to there it is like a ramp, once we break the surface you are at camp."
Just then the a group of people approached us with swords and other various weapons. Their leader was Aesop and I wasn't scared to fight him. He was small and scrawny and he didn't look like he could do much. However the rest of the warriors were buff and tough. One of the men was the guy from my dream.
"You two are coming with me." Said Aesop. "You will be punished for stealing, lying, and leaving."
I put my hand around my Hecate wheel in my pocket and Logan unsheathed his sword. I pulled it out and transformed it into a dagger. Aesop was holding a sword that looked completely uncomfortable on him. I quickly disarmed him with only my dagger and his sword flew to the ground. His nostrils flared in anger.
The guy from my dream advanced. He said, " My name is Ajax and do not fight any longer. It is useless, if you don't fight anymore and come with us we might keep you alive."
"I don't think so." I said advancing. I aimed my dagger straight at Ajax and slashed at him. It wasn't a bad cut, just something to keep him away. But as I cut him I saw black smoke coming out of the wound that looked like it was burning it from his inside. He yelled in pain and stepped away from me looking terrified. The rest of the soldiers backed up and even Logan looked scared.
"Attack them already." Yelled Aesop. Black smoke was still steaming from Ajax's wound. He was in no condition to fight.
"Join us and you can safely come to Camp Half Blood and heal wounds." I said.
"I don't think so. They are my warriors." Said Aesop.
"Well then leave us alone and we won't have to fight." I said.
"Give us the string and we'll leave you alone." Said Aesop.
I motioned for Logan to give me the string and he did. As I started to give the string to Aesop I did something I didn't expect to do. I pretended that I was seeing through his eyes and he got the string. But he didn't really get the string he just thought he did. I realized I was using the mist. I also realized I had used it before.
As Aesop and his warriors walked away, Logan and I walked to Camp Half Blood.
