My heart thumped as Nico and I ran in to snatch some of the bright orange backpacks and some of the stockpiled food along with swords and bows and other weapons. Fights broke out, but not in the way you might think. The rules of the Sloughgor: No killing other Slogurs. No more than six allies.
Stupid, right? You think, how can they stop you from killing other Slogurs? The truth is, I don't know. I think it curses you or something. Anyway, as we grabbed supplies, a boy caught my eye. His hair was a dusty orange and he wore a green t-shirt with the Sloughgor symbol and light gray pants. I recognised him; he was Noah Sighnoght.
"Allies?" he panted as he scrambled away from an oncoming punch.
"Allies," I agreed, whacking a Slogur over the head with a chicken wing. Nico gave me a short glare. I ignored him. I knew he didn't approve of Noah, or really anyone else for that matter. As we ran, and couple of other people joined us. Kade Hearthwell. Pygon Sanders. Together, we dashed into the bushes. Together, we discovered the first Sloughgor monster; the Manticore.
