I stared at the egg in awe. "H-how'd I do that?"
"You didn't ask for Stonerod to come out so that you could escape. You told him he had to come out so you could help others," explained Saphira. "I have never known a human to be like this before." The egg split and a small gray dragon stood in the dimly lit cave.
"Mewl?" It squeaked, tumbling forwards. Saphira nodded approvingly.
"Stonerod, meet Josh Windsor. He is your master now," she rumbled. I started.
"His master? But I don't-" Saphira cut me off.
"Insolent boy," she said, but this time it was with affection. "You drew him out of his egg. He is yours now, and I am in debt to you. I thought my only egg would die."
"Your egg?" I said. "Where is his-" I was cut of by a loud roar.
"Saphira! Do I smell a disgusting human?"
