I stood on the edge of the cliff side, outside the dragon den. Stonerod clambered around at my feet, huffing happily. My heart seemed to climb up my throat. There were still so many questions, so many unsolved problems that I didn't know where to start. My body felt numb. I felt warm breath on my shoulder. Saphira stood beside me.
"You have done well, Josh Windsor." Only later did I wonder how she knew my name.
"Thanks, I think," I muttered. She smiled at me, then lowered one wing invitingly.
"Come on," she said. Without a second thought, without any hesitation, I climbed onto her back. Stonerod followed me, curling up in my lap with a contented sigh. Saphira rose from the cliff top and soared over the forest. All at once, my problems, troubles and questions melted away. I knew they would come back to haunt me.
But for now, there was only me, my dragons and the wonder of where the breeze would take us.
And that's it for this book! My first completed watty book!
I can't believe it. Thanks to all you readers out there, I love you all.
Now, for the final QOTD for this book: What are you hoping for in book two?
