Chapter Eighteen- At Last I See The Light

It had been about two weeks. Lucas seemed to be getting along great in Los Angles, he missed his mother a lot but he got a call every night with her saying that she loves him. Ben had been teaching him guitar.

"Dad? How did you and mom fall for each other?" he asked one night while Ben was attempting to cook.

"You wanna know that story?" he asked and Lucas nodded quickly. "Okay then"

It was the first day of high school for Rey, she was lost and confused, and she couldn't find Poe or her locker. She sat down on the tall steps outside the school all alone.

"Rey?" she turned to see Ben sitting down next to her now.

"Hi Ben" she said softly.

"what's wrong? Did someone pick on you or -"

"I'm lost and I can't find Poe... I really need some help...Could you help me?" she asked looking up at him.

"Sure.. Well what's your first class?" he asked her.

"Photography 101.." she handed him her class list.

"That's right next to my first period , here I'll help you" he grabbed her hand. Rey's cheeks grew red and held his hand. They walked through the school to their classes.

They smiled and were laughing over silly things... It was quite cute...

When they reached Rey's class he brought her to the closed door. "well... here you are... I'll see you after class and I'll-" then she pressed her lips on his cheek, raising her toes so she could reach his face. His face and ears grew red from her soft lips.

"Thanks Benny" she then smiled and walked to the door. Ben grabbed her by the hand and kissed her cheek too. "Bye" she blushed.

"So mom made the first move?" Lucas asked as he grabbed the cheese and began to shred it.

"Kinda... I mean I held her hand... " Ben said.

"Dad... when they were asking you those questions... The ones about if you loved mom anymore...."

"whats your question Lucas?" Ben asked raising an eyebrow.

"Do you still love her?" he asked . Ben's face fell and he just looked at his son. "I'm sorry... I shouldn't have asked that and -"

"No it's okay... A natural question for a kid... I do still love your mom... But that doesn't matter... She doesn't love me anymore... It's no big deal"

"Have you told her that you still love her?" he asked.

"No.."

"Have you ever written anything besides House Of Memories for her?" Lucas asked.

"The entire album of Reigning Kings and Breaking Sapphire" he sighed in a shame.

"For Reyhanne Kenobi and Ben Solo... "

"Yep... I was always shocked no one had caught on..."

"Yeah...I love that album... Mom doesn't really but she does like If I Had You... she will sometimes hum it when she's doing the dishes" he said.

"What other songs does she like?" Ben asked.

"At Last I See The Light from Tangled... She got the CD from Uncle Poe and wouldn't stop playing that song and eventually it was scratched-"

"I wrote that... The label said it was to sappy for our sound, they hooked me up with Disney and they bought it... In fact the piano on the track is me playing" he said.

"You're kidding? Mom sings that song so much... She one time had me sing Flynn and it was horrible because I was going through puberty and the whole voice breaking" he said "She had a tangled theme birthday ... Uncle Poe and Uncle Finn planned it for her, she tried to dress up in purple like the princess."

"I wrote that right after I was watching the news, it was the day that they elected her as assistant mayor, I saw her and grabbed a pen and ran to my piano... I wrote it in like 12 minutes."

"You should sing her the song... She would love that" Lucas said.

"How ?" Ben asked.

"You know the song by heart... You could simply sing in and play it on the piano...I can broadcast it live on Youtube... I'm sure she'll see, someone will share it on facebook... What do you say?" Lucas smiled.

"My son is a freaky genius" Ben smirked then walked to his black baby grand.

Lucas came back with his laptop and camera "go ahead"

Ben began to play the piano and then began to sing the solo male version.

"All those days watching from the windows

All those years outside looking in
All that time never even knowing

Now I'm here blinking in the starlight
Now I'm here suddenly I see
Standing here it's all so clear
I'm where I'm meant to be" Ben was singing both Rapunzel and Flynn, he saw it fit too.

"And at last I see the light

And it's warm and real and bright
And the world has somehow shifted
All at once everything looks different
Now that I see you" his hands keyed the piano with such grace and rhythm. It was so amazing.

"All those days chasing down a daydream
All those years living in a blur
All that time never truly seeing
Things, the way they were
Now she's here shining in the starlight
Now she's here suddenly I know
If she's here it's crystal clear
I'm where I'm meant to go" Lucas checked the view count and they were well in the millions

"And at last I see the light
And it's like the fog has lifted
And at last I see the light" he played and the views began to rise higher.

"And it's like the sky is new
And it's warm and real and bright
And the world has somehow shifted
All at once everything is different
Now that I see you" he played the rest of the melody and then finished off softly.

"Now that I see you" he hit the last note of the piano then smiled at Lucas.

I'm so fricken pissed.... I wrote a much better chapter BUT IT DIDN"T FUCKING SAVE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
