Nate and I ran to the back of Walmart, where all the fun stuff was. I grabbed a pool noodle and held it up.
"Fight me."
"If that's what you want," he says.
He grabs a pool noodle and we sword fight with them.
"Ha!" I say. "I got you! You're dead."
I run down another isle and grab two skateboards. Nate grabs two helmets.
"Safety first," he laughs.
We start at different ends of the isle and hold our pool noodles, ready for war. We push off with out feet and start hitting each other as we roll by.
He runs off and I chase after him.
"Nate?" I say as I look for him.
The next thing I know, balls are flying out of the giant thing that they sit in and Nate's at the bottom.
"That's not as fun as it looks in the videos," he groans and laugh.
I laugh at him and help him up. We walk down the isles of Walmart. He goes down a toy isle. I come across the pillows and grab two. I run up to him and throw one at him.
He catches it and we start hitting each other with the pillows. We laugh uncontrollably.
He hits me one last time and the pillow busts and feathers fly everywhere. My jaw drops and Nate laughs so hard that he had tears coming out of his eyes.
"Hey! You have to pay for that!"
Nate and I look to see who said that, a worker. We look at each other with wide eyes and take off running.
The whole run back to the car, we were laughing.
We quickly got inside the car and he drove off, quickly.
"That was the most fun I've had in a long time," I said happily.
"Me too, the adrenaline kicked in," he said as he laughed.
We looked at the time. It was five in the morning.
"Wanna go watch the sunrise?"
I nod my head, happily.
Instead of going back to the hill, Nate takes me to a very tall building. We ride the elevator to the very top and take the stairs to the roof.
We sit on the roof and watch the sky turn pink and orange as the sun came up.
"It's so pretty," I say.
"Very," Nate says back.
I hear the sound the phone makes when you take a picture. I turned around and Nate had wide eyes. I started laughing.
We watched the sunrise until the pretty colors went away.
"Coffee?" he asks and I smile.
-
I follow Nate up the stairs to the house and he opens the door. We walk inside. I sit my coffee down on the counter and hand Nate his jacket.
"Thanks," I smile at him.
"No problem," he smiles back.
"Where were you?!" Jack yells.
"With Nate," I say and take a drink of my coffee.
"Why? You had me worried sick! I thought you got lost, and you've only been here a few hours!" he yells.
"Because you left me, you've ignored me this whole time! You bring me to a different state where I don't know anyone, and you leave me alone?" I yelled back.
He stayed quiet.
"You never said anything about a party, or her!" I say pointing to Madison. "You told me not to worry about her, but you turned around and gave me a reason to be worried."
"What are you talking about?" he asks.
"You fucking kissed her, Jack! We were in bed, and she walked in. She got all 'sad,' because she saw us cuddling, so you kiss her for comfort? What the fuck, Jack?" I said as my eyes filled with water.
"Ana-"
I go into the room and grab my things. I head for the door but he grabs my arm. Everyone was looking at us, they had been the whole time.
"Ana, don't go," Jack says, sounding sad.
"Well I'm not staying," I said as I looked at the ground.
"Please, I'm sorry," he says, and tries to pull me into a hug.
"Get off of me!" I walk out the door with my things and call an über.
I saw that my phone was full of texts and calls from Jack.
There was no way I could stay there now. Not after everyone saw our little episode.
