I stepped out of Jack's bathroom as I ran a towel through my wet hair.
After everything last night, my parents got home. I snuck Jack out and said I was staying with a friend. That's when Jack and I ended up back here, at his house.
"Ana," Jack called.
I could tell he was downstairs, probably on the couch.
I followed his voice and found him on his couch, "yeah?"
I quickly tied my hair up into the towel and looked at him.
"I was thinking we should tell your parents," he says, making my cheeks flush with red. "Today."
"I-I don't know," I slumped into the couch and covered my face. "Jack, I'm scared. I don't know how they're going to react."
"I'll be with you the whole time, Ana," he grabs my hand from my face and holds it. "If anything, you can come stay with me."
-
"Mom!" I call as I open the front door.
"I'm in the kitchen," she calls back.
"Mom," I say as Jack and I walk into the same room as her. "I want you to meet Jack."
She looks up from the bowl of fruit she'd been picking around in and raises her eyebrows.
"This is my boyfriend," I say.
Jack intertwines his fingers with mine and lightly rubs my thumb with his.
"I'm her mother, and you can call me Mrs. Mitchell," she mutters.
"Nice to meet you, Mrs. Mitchell," Jack says politely.
"I think you're dad would like to meet him, he's in the den," my mom says. "Honey!" she calls. "Ana has a boy here!"
My dad rushes into the kitchen and stares at us with his crazy eyes.
"Dad, this is Jack," I say nervously.
"Hi, Mr. Mitchell," Jack sticks out his hand for my dad to shake, but he doesn't.
Jack nervously pulls away his hand.
"Hum," I sigh. "I have to tell you guys something."
My mom and dad both raise their eyebrows and sit down at the table, so Jack and I sit down as well.
"Mom," my eyes begin to water, barely. "Jack took me to a party-"
"We know where this is going," my mom rolls her eyes.
"Listen-"
"No! Ana! You listen!" my mom stands up and point her finger at me. "I don't know how many times I've told you, if you are adult enough to get pregnant, than you can get out of my house."
"I-Mom-"
"Mrs. Mitchell," Jack starts. "You really need to hear the full story-"
"And you're the fucker that knocked my daughter up?" my dad accuses.
"No.." Jack begins.
"Ana! You're pregnant, and it's not even your boyfriend kid!" my mom yells. "Haven't I taught you not to be slutty?"
I open my mouth but no words come out. Tears slip from my eyes.
"And you!" my mom aims towards Jack. "You're stupid enough to be with her after she's cheated?"
"Mrs. Mitchell," Jack says. "It's not her-"
"I don't want to hear it!" she screams. "Get out of my house, Ana. Don't fucking come back, either! Don't ask for my help."
I stand up and run to my room. Tears slid down my face the whole while. I grab a suitcase and shove as much into it as possible. I grab my money, toiletries, clothes, hair essentials, and any meaningful things I might miss.
"Ana-" Jack starts but I storm out of the room.
I run out of the house and to my car. Jack hurriedly jumps in the front seat and stares at me. I catch his gaze and he lifts his hand to my face.
"Baby girl," he says as he wipes the falls tears away with his thumb. "It'll be okay."
