"What the-"
"And all this time I thought you were a spear gal!" I sarcastically exclaim, pasting a shocked expression on my face.
"No talking." Nurse Kathy hissed.
I sit down in the bed, trying to figure out a way out. I could try distracting her while Chase made a move. No, he's not attentive enough. I soon ran out of options as Chase fiddled with his fingers. Nurse Kathy reached for the phone, and dialed a number. The gun was still pointed at us. She called someone and we all listened carefully to see who would pick up.
"This is the office speaking." A woman voice answered.
"Yes, this is Nurse Kathy. Chase Wilson and Samantha Baker are being sent back into their rooms. No one is to bother them, understood? Doctor's orders." The nurse hissed into the phone.
Chase stood up to reposition himself, and Nurse Kathy cocked the hammer and Chase slowly sat back down putting his hands into a surrender position. Nurse Kathy put the phone back down, but the handgun remained.
"Listen, we know you have it, do you have to keep it pointed at us?" I demanded frustratedly.
The nurse suddenly looked nervous, so I kept going.
"Come on. Sometime, someone's going to walk in here and you're going to try to shoot them and then the guns going to go off and everyone will know about it." I added with more fire.
What could I do when I got angry enough? Why was Nurse Kathy afraid of me?
"Ok! Alright!" She calmly says pointing the gun to the ground.
"It's going to be a while." Chase told me.
"And you. You're NO help at all. Not even trying to figure out a way out." I snap at him.
"I'm sorry." He says gently.
I take a deep breath, and feel the oxygen flowing through me. I focus on the air and then I calm myself back down.
"You're eyes are getting more brown by the second." Chase tells me with a cheery smile.
Then, I hear the door knob rustle, and I see a girl with short, dark blonde hair banging on the door.
"Not a word. If she asks how you are, I want you to put on the performance of your life-"The nurse orders, aiming the gun at Chase behind her screen.
Hazel bursts through the door.
"Hey is Sam-hi Sami! How are you feeling?" She asks me approaching me.
"Not great." I say giving her an obviously fake cough.
"Well I'm just glad you're okay." She says pulling me into an embrace.
Then, once her mouth is next to my ear, she nearly silently whispers under her breath, "blink once if you're in danger."
I eye nurse Kathy then smile at Hazel. I blink once before darting my eyes towards the desk.
"You don't sound too good." She says feeling my forehead.
"Want to come with me to go get you some water in the cafeteria?" She offers placing a false smile on her face.
"She can't walk right now, her legs are numb from the pain medication." The nurse lied.
"Oh, well then, I'll be here crutch." Hazel says gently.
"No, actually, you won't." Nurse Kathy says pulling out her hand gun.
Hazel sucks in air through her teeth and leans sideways a little while saying, "that was a mistake."
All of a sudden the gun flies out of the Nurse's hand and into Hazel's.
