I hear the bugs and birds chirp, the wind shifts the leaves on the ground and flows through the branches of the trees. I don't see any movement, nor do I smell vampire rank anymore. They must all be inside. I had to get that girl out, and I had to save my friends, but how? Suddenly, a spine-chilling shriek comes from inside. I kick the front door until it busts whatever lock is in the inside. I load my arrow, and point it inside. Now the barn is pitch-black dark. I couldn't see anything. I wrapped my bow around my body and held my arrow.
"RUN!" Cade's voice screams through the dark air.
Suddenly, a face appears in the darkness. It's the girl, but the look of pure terror is forever pasted on her face. She was gone. Her body drops to the ground and there stands a boy about the girl's age. They must've been in relation to each other when they were caught, because they had matching tattoos. I knew better than to mess around with a newborn though. He could only crave my blood. I chucked my arrow at him, but he caught it and smiled.
"Too slow." He said grinning.
"Not quite!" I scream realizing his senses are going crazy.
He shrivels back in pain as I continue to scream loudly. Then, I load my arrow and shoot without warning. It hits his arm, and I shoot another one, not breaking my high-pitched scream. It hits his chest, but not his heart. Suddenly, Cade appeared and a crack and gushing noise sounded through the air. A wooden tip stuck out of the newborn's chest. Cade tripped but I was there to support him up. I observed his wounds, just cuts on his wrists and shoulder area. He had a gash on his leg, looking like a knife stab. He shoved me away, but fell back over. I rolled my eyes and helped him over to the wall of the entrance. I went back in, and helped Ash, who had what looked like two broken ribs from a punch he took to the gut. Hazel's face was scratched up, but other than that unharmed. Becca was no where to be found.
"Guys, where's Becca?" I ask returning from scouting the entire barn and it's perimeter.
"She wasn't there with us." Cade whimpered from the ground.
"Did she even come in?" I ask looking around and listening hard for anything unusual.
"I don't know, but we have to get home." Hazel says helping Ash to his feet.
I offer a hand to Cade, who hits it away in an aggravated fashion.
"Fine, have fun limping back." I snap at him following Hazel and Ash.
I hear Cade get to his feet, then stagger back onto the ground. He started getting very frustrated and I leaned my side against the tree, enjoying the show. I crossed my arms stubbornly, as Cade's obstinate side overtook his clear thinking.
"Hazel and Ash are halfway back now." I say observing my nails.
He rolled his eyes and drew in a deep breath. I smiled sweetly, appreciating my superiority.
"They're probably at the truck." I say drawing in oxygen through my teeth.
"Okay, fine!" He barks at me.
I skip over to him, and wrap his arm around my shoulders. He uses my strength and limps all the way back to the truck. By the time we got there, Hazel and Ash had already hot-wired the truck. I set Cade gently in the bench of the truck and he lay his head back. I walked back outside and started calling for Becca.
"BECCA! BECCA! Come on I know you're out there!" I scream.
No answer, so I continue for about five more minutes. I give up because my head starts pounding.
"Where is she?" I demand as Ash limps to the back of the truck.
"I'm not sure. I didn't hear anything weird." Ash says.
