At that moment, the car drove up.
"Finally!" Jay announces frustratedly.
We loaded ourselves into the van. After, something extremely strange happened. We were instructed to hand over our weapons, but I kept my blade, a sharp string, and a small bottle of paint Hazel gave me. She told me to put it under my eyes to intimidate the enemy, but I never got around to it. I stayed quiet while Ivy and Jake explained to the Mission Commander what happened.
"Then humans came and-" but Ivy paused and exchanged glances with Cade who quickly stepped in.
"They were torn apart by a werewolf before any of us could react." Cade says emotionlessly.
"How can you remember that?" Ivy asks as Jakes expression also turns confused.
Cade must've wiped all their memories.
"All that matters is that we get Doll to medical." I say trying to flatten out the bumps in the conversation.
"Yeah." Ivy agrees before continuing the story.
Once the car started moving I punched Cade in the arm. He didn't even flinch, which frustrated me further. I realized he had brainwashed all but me and him to forget what happened that night with the humans to save me from being banished. Showing your true self to a human was forbidden, and if someone were to break the rules...
The long ride made me very sleepy, but I refused to keep my eyes closed for too long.
"You really should get some rest." Cade says without looking at me.
"I'm fine." I lie quickly.
"No, you're exhausted." Cade said turning towards me.
"How do you know?" I demanded turning away.
Cade chuckled and quieted down after that. The ride almost seemed longer than last time, and rather than driving our normal route, we took a different track. I trusted the school, but something was wrong. Doll, Ivy and Jay remained asleep as Jake and I exchanged uneasy glances.
"Guys, wake up. Something's wrong." Jake says.
"What?" Ivy asks.
"This ride is longer, and we are driving on different terrain." I explain.
"Where are we going?" Jay asks.
"That's the problem, we don't know." Cade announces standing up and looking for a way to look out.
"It's too late to do anything now." I say feeling the truck's breaks activate.
We all launch forward and fall on top of each other. Within a flash, the doors open and we are instructed to move quickly and silently. Cade and I nod at each other before separating from the group and watching from the tree line. Only two men were tasked with watching over four highly trained specialists. I nod to Cade, instructing him to go explore the truck. He sneaks over there and I keep watch on the kids. Mission commander looks slightly nervous before announcing, "you kids said you saw humans?"
"Yes, sir." Jake answered.
"Are you positive?" He asks gesturing towards the other man.
