I woke up the next morning with the sun shining brightly in my eyes. Merry was awake, but Pippin was still fast asleep. I got up and let out a loud yawn. I noticed that Treebeard hadn't returned. I wondered where he wandered off to.

Merry sat beside Pippin and shook him gently, trying to get him to wake up.

"Pippin." Merry whispered. "Wake up. Wake up. It's morning."

Pippin's eyes fluttered. "Morning? Already?" he mumbled. Merry took his arm and yanked him up from the ground. "Come on, Sleepyhead."

"Alright, Merry, alright! Wait a minute, where did Treebeard head off to?" Pippin turned around and looked at his cousin.

"I don't know, Pip." replied Merry. "I think the best thing to do is that we should stay here until he comes back. We can't just go wandering off."

Pippin frowned in disappointment. "But, Merry! Why can't we...."

"No, Pippin." Merry interrupted. "We're staying here."

"I'm hungry, Merry!" Pippin whined.

Merry held his index finger up to his lips. "Hush, Pip! Just be patient! I'm sure Treebeard will bring us back some food."

I stood awkwardly with my hands in my coat pocket. I realized that I still had the loafs of Lembas bread that Pippin gave to me in Lothlórien.

"Uh...I have some food." I said, quietly.

Merry and Pippin's eyes lit up like lightbulbs. The two hobbits dashed over to me.

"Where? Where is it? Where's the food?" asked Pippin.

"I have some leftover Lembas bread." I smiled. "There's plenty here in my pocket." I grabbed a loaf and removed it from my pocket.

"How much do you have left, Brianna?" asked Merry, eagerly.

I counted all of the loaves of Lembas in my hand. "Lets see here. I have one...two...three....four...five...six loaves of Lembas."

I handed a loaf of Lembas to Merry and Pippin. They gobbled it down quickly. I decided to help myself to a loaf. I munched on it slowly. The flavour of the bread was so savoury.

After a few bites, I felt full. "I never knew that eating a tiny piece of bread could fill up my stomach." I mumbled to myself.

"Can I have another? Please?" begged Pippin.

"I would give you more, but I think that we should save the rest."

"Why?" Asked Pippin.

"It's for emergencies only. What if we're lost?"

"This is an emergency! I'm hungry!"

"I'm sorry, Pippin." I shrugged my shoulders. "But, I'm afraid I can't give up any more of the Lembas. We should save some more for the rest of the journey."

"She's right, Pip." Merry added.

Pippin turned around, crossed his arms and gave Merry a sour look. "So, you're taking her side now?"

"I'm not taking anyone's side! I'm being rational! Think about it, Pip! Imagine if we were lost and we had no food left! Who would we have to blame for that? You! It would be because of you! So, stop your whining and stop complaining!"

I lowered my head and shut my eyes. "Please, Pippin. Do it for me. You love me, don't you?" I said in a sorrowful voice.

"Well, I...I do." Pippin stammered. "Of course I love you, Brianna. It's just that I'm so hungry...won't you.."

I pretended to cry. "Please, Pippin. This...this is the only food that we have left." I sniffled.

"Alright, alright. I'm sorry, my love. I didn't mean any of it. You're right. We should save the rest." Pippin reassured.

My face lit up with a smile. "Thank you, Pip!"I giggled. I left Merry and Pippin and skipped merrily into the distance.

Merry let out a loud laugh. "Ha, Ha! You fell for her little trick! She gave you the slip!"
he teased.

Pippin was bewildered. "I-I-I don't understand." Merry ruffled Pippin's curly hair and laughed heartily.

"Oh, Pippin. You're such an idiot."
