Later on that evening, Frodo and Sam were fast asleep. One of Faramir's men woke Frodo from his slumber. Then, Faramir ordered Frodo to follow him.
Frodo followed Faramir to a large cliff. Many of his men were lined up against it. They held bows and arrows in their hands. Faramir pointed to the bottom of the pool and Frodo saw Gollum splashing around in it.

"To enter The Forbidden Pool bears the penalty of death. My men wait for my command. Shall they shoot?"
Gollum began to sing. He was slapping a fish against a sharp rock in the pool.
Rock and pool is nice and cool so juicy sweet! I only wish to catch a fish so juicy sweet!
"Please, let me go down to him." Frodo begged. "This creature is bound to me. And I to him."
Faramir nodded and allowed Frodo to go to Gollum. When Frodo caught up to Gollum, he found that there was a fish wiggling around in his mouth.
"Sméagol." Frodo called to him.

"Master is here. Come, Sméagol. Trust master. Come." Said Frodo, coaxing Gollum in a soothing voice.
"We must go now?" asked Gollum.
"Sméagol, you must trust master." Frodo motioned Gollum to come towards him.
"Follow me, come on. Come. Come, Sméagol. Nice Sméagol. That's it. Come on."
As Gollum crawled slowly towards Frodo, some of Faramir's men grabbed a hold of Gollum and would not release him. Frodo panicked.
"Don't hurt him! Sméagol, don't struggle! Sméagol listen to me!"
"Master!" Gollum cried out in pain and agony.
One of Faramir's men placed a hood over Gollum's head. The creature's voice was muffled.
Frodo looked up at Faramir, fearfully. "How could you?"
