Frodo and Sam found themselves in a hollow cave. The mysterious man that had imprisoned them removed the hoods from their heads. The man's name was Faramir.

"My men tell me that you are Orc spies." he said to Frodo and Sam.

Sam crossed his arms. "Spies! Now wait just a minute!"

"Well, if you are not spies then what are you?" asked the hooded man.

"We are hobbits of the Shire." replied Frodo. "My name is Frodo Baggins and this is Samwise Gamgee."

"Your bodyguard?" The man snickered.

"His Gardener." Sam retorted.

"And where is your skulking friend?" asked the man. "That gangrel creature. He had an ill-favored look."

"There was no other." answered Frodo. "We set out from Rivendell with seven companions. One we lost in Moria. Two were my kin. A dwarf there was also. And an elf. And two men. And one of them was my daughter. And Aragorn, son of Arathorn and Boromir of Gondor." Frodo paused.

Faramir was intrigued. "You have a daughter. Do you have a wife?" asked Faramir.

"No, sir." answered Frodo. "I am not married. I adopted my daughter. But, she is not a hobbit."

"What is she?"

"She is from the race of men."

"She is from the race of men?" Faramir repeated.

"Yes." Frodo answered.

Faramir raised his eyebrows in surprise. "I think I know where your daughter is. I saw her alongside two young hobbits in the land of Ithilien."

Frodo's eyes widened. "You found her? She is alive?" he flabbergasted.

"Indeed." Faramir nodded.

"I can't believe it." Frodo mumbled under his breath.

Faramir changed the subject. "You spoke of Boromir. You were a friend of him?"

"Yes, for my part." Said Frodo.

"It would grieve you then, to learn that he is dead." Faramir informed Frodo.

"Dead? How When?" Frodo was perplexed.

"As one of his companions, I hoped you would tell me."

"If something has happened to Boromir, we would have you tell us."

Faramir cleared his throat. "His horn washed up upon the riverbank, about six days past. It was cloven in two. But more than this, I know it in my heart. He was my brother."
