Chapter 18

ELISSA

Blake was kind of acting strange, but that's to be expected I guess.

I mean, I did sort of reject him so...

Currently, we are on our way to the zoo. Daniel, Sarah, and John decided to tag along so all of us were in one car: I was driving, Sarah was in the passenger, and the boys were in the back. They were throwing one small tantrum about it but Sarah gave Daniel the look, I gave Blake the look, and then Daniel and Blake gave John the look. Needless to say, we are all having a great time now.

Getting inside the zoo was a similar adventure as when I took Blake here for the first time; which was sneaking in. Surprisingly, no one objected and even thought it was fun. Of course, I rolled my eyes at the poor souls who thought climbing a fence was fun because the idea of fun never occupied their lives before.

Now, here I am watching four adults act like little kids; John especially, who was pointing at every animal he saw in astonishment. I mean we are at a zoo for Christ sake! Who knows what will happen when the real fun begins.

"Wait until you guys see the wolves," Blake said in amusement.

I eyed Blake suspisiously, "Why?" I asked wondering what all the amusement was, "It's not like there's werewolves in there Blake," I laughed, "You would not let that happen right?"

Blake looked at me then looked at the rest of the gang, "Right..."

I stopped laughing then looked at Blake more seriously then I looked at the rest who were looking at the ground trying to hold in their laughter. I narrowed my eyes at them, "Right?"

Sarah finally spoke up, amusement in her eyes, "Colton and Brian?" she asked looking at Blake.

Blake avoided my eyes but his grin escaped him, "Food fight with mom."

I rolled my eyes, "Okay let's go."

Before I knew it everyone had rushed in front of me, including Blake, laughing their stupid wolf asses off to go see them.

"Fucking werewolves," I muttered.

......

Our trip back home was uneventful. The boys fell asleep on each other and Sarah and I thought it was adorable until Sarah got out her camera and took a picture of the three boys. We started giggling together just imagining the look on their faces when they see the picture.

As I was driving Sarah and I started to have a conversation about the elephant in the room.

"So Blake," she started.

I nodded my head as if I understood where the conversation was heading, "I totally accept that you guys are werewolves and shit but," I paused looking for the right words to say, "I just can't accept that I don't have any choice in the matter when it comes to this mate bond. I mean don't get me wrong Blake," I blushed, "He's...he's great actually. But, I am NOT the girl to just obey to everything and submit without question; it's just not me. I need a choice, I need to fall in love with him and not the bond."

Sarah nodded taking it all in, "I understand. Well," she paused and pinched her eyebrows together, "I guess I really don't understand; when I first met Daniel my wolf just kind of fell in love with him and then I followed. Before I knew it 30 seconds had passed and we already loved each other."

I momentarily took my eyes off the road and widened my eyes at her, "Seriously?"

She nodded, a ghost of a smile playing on her lips, "Yeah. He means everything to me. Now don't get me wrong, I was so scared to have a mate. But I couldn't imagine living without him for even a second."

I looked back at the road and hunched my shoulders in slightly, "Do you think that's how Blake feels?" I whispered.

She looked back at Blake and sighed, "He'll tell you all about it in time."

I gulped, "What happens when I reject-"

Sarah interrupted, "Again, he'll tell you in time." She looked out her window and sighed again, "I don't know if you're ready to know yet."

I nodded agreeing with her, then drove the rest of the way home in silence.

When we finally got home I noticed everyone was asleep. I turned around in my seat to find the boys still on each other like a bunch of kids while Sarah's head was tilted on the window also sleeping peacefully.

"Awh," I sighed then I preceded to honk the car horn and yell, "Wake up fuckers!"

Everyone suddenly bursted awake with a jolt. John hit his head on the car ceiling and Daniel went to grab Sarah while Blake grabbed my shoulder and started fiercely looking around as if danger was lurking outside the car.

I started to crack up at their reaction, holding my stomach with both arms and trying to hold in my tears, "Y-you're all a bunch of s-scary werewolves but get so freaking scared easily!"

Sarah glared at me but also tried to hold in her laughter, "Hey. Shut up."

I laughed even harder, "Then fucking John and his fucking head!" My laughter suddenly got worse and Sarah and Daniel were laughing with me agreeing that John was in fact, an idiot.

"Hey," John spoke up, "Who the fuck wakes up people with a car horn?"

I shook my head still high off of laughter and exited the car with everyone else following. I shut the car door and felt Blake watching me.

Still giggling a little I looked at him and saw him start to smile with me. There was a gleam in his eyes and he was wearing a soft look. I started to stop giggling and my smile turned into a frown. I titled my head to the side wondering what that look was for.

"What's up with you?"

It seemed that whatever was on his mind was suddenly gone, as if reality finally came back and he shook his head, "Nothing, nothing."

I shrugged and followed everyone else who had already started heading for the front doors. John was still a little bit grumpy and that brought my giggle fit back, "Dumbass."

He glared at me, "I'm glad I make you laugh."

Daniel was leading, holding hands with Sarah, and opened the front door while saying, "That was freaking hilarious John."

We all laughed as we entered the house and even John joined us for a little bit. My laughter, however, stopped suddenly when I saw two older strangers standing in the kitchen.

Sensing my abrupt change of attitude, Blake stopped laughing and looked up with a frown. His head titled to the side and he seemed a little surprised, "Mom? Dad?"
