CHAPTER FOURTEEN

“He’s just been staring at her door,” I heard one of the guys say.

And he’s right.

I stayed up the whole night staring at the door that led to my mate’s room in denial. My heart felt empty and heavy. My head wouldn’t stop pounding. My throat was dry. My eyes were burning. I felt so pathetic.

My life felt pathetic now that my only reason to live locked herself up in her room because she doesn’t want to see me. Because she’s scared of me.

Because she doesn’t want me.

My wolf was silent at this point. His heartbreak worsened as time progressed…mateless.

I sighed and once again knocked on the door just to let her know I was still here.

I’ll always be here.

Even at times when she doesn’t want anything to do with me I will always be here.

“Hey,” I heard a voice behind me. I knew it was John so I didn’t bother to look behind me.

“How are you?”

I scoffed and rolled my eyes, “Fucking peachy.”

John realized his mistake and quickly corrected himself, ‘I didn’t mean it like that.”

I shook my head and shrugged, “It doesn’t matter.”

Now it was John’s turn to scoff, “I’ve never seen you like this man. Like hell it matters!”

“No it doesn’t.”

“She’ll come out eventually.”

My wolf trembled a little bit as I voiced his thoughts, “What’s wrong with me?”

John shook his head, “I-I don’t under-”

“What’s wrong with me? I d-didn’t even know her that well and I’ve already screwed it up! What did I do to deserve standing outside my mate’s door,” I paused and looked at him for the first time, “Alone?”

John shook his head, “You won’t be alone,” he trailed off, “You have me. You have Daniel.”

I nodded in understanding, “But I need her.”

John nodded, “I get it.”

I heard footsteps to my other side and snapped my head in that direction to see Daniel walking towards me.
