Late at night - Kitchen:
"I can't sleep help me." I said to my mom who was working with her guitar. "Drink milk." My mum replied not looking up from her notebook.
I went to the refrigerator and got the milk. I poured myself a glass and sat down. "So how's it going?" I asked. I sipped my drink. My mom stopped playing and looked at me.
"Nobody would play for these old people at this nursery home. They wanted money, but the nursery home wouldn't pay it so I'm doing it for free." My mom explained. "That's nice of you, but money mom." I said.
"It's not always about money. Those people usually never get excitement and I get to help them. I would rather see a smile on their face then money in my pocket." My mom explained.
"So you're staying up to write this song for these old people while Brian and me sleep." I said. "I have to be apart of the world somehow even if it's something simple like writing a song." My mom replied. "Can I help you?" I asked.
"I don't think so sweetheart. You have school tomorrow and plus this is my thing. You have to find your thing." My mom said. I looked at her before finishing my milk. I got up and put my cup in the sink. "Goodnight mom." I said. "Goodnight." My mom replied.
Next day -Bay window:
"We only have a few minutes until school. Where's your brother?" Alex said walking into my room. "You know what my mom does. She plays music for people to make them happy." I explained. "Yeah she's very good." Alex said.
"And my brother works at a store part time so he can help my mom." I said. "He's even better." Alex replied. "My mom says she's doing something for our world. What will I ever do for our world?" I asked. "I don't know big things I bet." Alex replied.
"What if I don't." I said.
"Mia it takes time to change the world. You can't just do it in one day." Alex explained. "But I want to be like them." I said.
"I get it your brother, your dad and your mom are great people so is my dad, but you're lucky to have more than one person who does great things. A lot of people don't have that." Alex said. "But there's Abby and Brian and Abby and Tommy. I'm just Mia." I replied. I looked at her. "What do you do when you want to be like your dad." I said.
"Practice because when it time I know what I'm going to do to change the world even if I change it by taking pictures." Alex answered.
History class:
"Ferdinand Magellan what did he do?" Eric asked. "Invented Jelly!" Alex shouted. "His crew did the first circumnavigation of the Earth." Autumn answered. "Whatever same thing." Alex said. "Everyone thought the world was flat why Braidy?" Eric asked/said. "Because people were too scared to find out the truth." Braidy replied. "Because of a globe!" Kai shouted.
