I trudged back to the house. When I got upstairs, I called Sarah. I then remembered that Journey had died when I was 5. not 13. I hadn't ridden since I was 7 when my favorite pony, Snicker-doodle, died of colic. "Hello?" Sarah answered, snapping me out of my daze.
"Hey. You wanna come take Magic for a trail ride with me? Im board." I lied.
"Sure! Be right over. See you in 5!" she said happily.
We hung up and I pulled on my favorite boots and hat. I was just finishing tacking up Magic when Sarah had come into the barn. I double checked the saddle girths and led him to her. "Hey boy!" she giggled.
I mounted Dancer and we walked out of the barn. "So, how are you?" she said.
"I could be better. My dad left at 9:00. He was deployed. Again." I answered.
"Oh. I'm really sorry! I didn't mean to make you feel bad! Are you okay?"
"Yeah now that I have a friend around." I grinned. "you wanna stay the night?"
"Umm,Yeah!" she giggled.
we continued along the hog back ridge and ended up back at the barn. All of our trails looped back around so that we ended in the same place we started. Jasmines limo pulled up just as we reached the barn. Oh joy.
