He turned toward us as he heard the hooves of the horses entering the stable. My breath caught in my throat. It was Tyler. My crush. He gave me his crooked smile which I loved so much and waved. I waved back with a silly grin spreading over my face. "Hi" he said, his southern drawl charmed me.
"Hi" I blushed back.
"Your Clara, right? your dad hired me here before he left. I'm boarding my horse, Day break, here. His stable name is Dawn." He explained.
"Oh. Well these are some of the horses we have here. Teddy, Blossom, Arabella, Carmel, and my horse, Dancer." I said.
He looked at Dancer. "May I?" he asked.
"Uh, Yeah. Go ahead." I nodded. he came over to Dancer.
He pet her soft face. I dismounted and showed him to Dancer's stall. I untacked her and put her into her stall. "Let's go to the tack room and then I will show you around if you want." I said to him.
"Sure." He smiled again, making my heart flutter in my chest. God he was cute. I hoped I wasn't too red..
Tyler's POV
She led me to the tack room and slipped her saddle onto the rack. She hung her bridle on a hook and led me outside to hang her saddle pad out to dry. Her horse was beautiful, a palomino piebald Gypsy Vanner. She turned to me. "Well, you've seen the tack room, the stalls, and the drying racks. Now you need to see the paddocks, the riding rings and the indoor arena."
"Cool." I managed to say.
She was so beautiful. I'd had a crush her for a while now. I just couldn't bring myself to tell her. I always got nervous..
Clara's POV
I showed him around the stables. I pointed out the birthing paddock, for mares and foals ranging up to yearlings. The gelding and stallion paddock, and the paddock for mares and fillies. When I had finished, he smiled at me, sending more butterflies cascading into my stomach.
"Let me introduce you to my horse." He drawled.
I blushed. "Okay."
on the way we ran into my friends. "Can we talk to her for a sec? she won't be long." Jasmine said.
"Sure. I'll be in the barn Clara."
"Okay. be there in a sec." I said, trying not to show how annoyed I was.
"What the H-E-Double hockey sticks was that for?!" I said.
"What the heck! you ditched us!" Jasmine half squealed.
"Sorry." I mumbled.
"Its okay. Introduce us to him though." Sarah said.
I lit up. "Sure." I smiled at them.
we walked into the barn. "Tyler, this is Sarah, Jordan, Jasmine, Jordan's sister Annie, my sister, Marie, and their friend, Molly." I said.
He waved to them and looked down at me. "Okay, so now what are you showing me?" he asked.
"The indoor arena." I looked up at him. "Bye guys." I waved to them.
We walked into the barn and I showed him the indoor arena, the feed room, and the wash room for the horses. I turned around and ran straight into his muscular chest. "Sorry." I mumbled.
He lifted my red face so he could look into my eyes. I felt my heartbeat quicken. It became loud, Like millions of horses hooves pounding the ground. He tucked a strand of hair behind my ear and smiled at me. "Its alright. it was just an accident." he whispered, his breath tickling my face.
He grabbed my hand and intertwined our fingers together. I felt an impulse to pull away, but didn't. I didn't want to offend him. We walked out of the tack room toward the house. I opened the door and my mouth dropped open. My friends turned their heads and suddenly, all eyes where on my hand in Tyler's. oh god I thought. that's all I need. to be questioned by my friends. I looked away and blushed profusely. I felt a small tug on my hand and reluctantly walked into the kitchen. I grabbed a glass of water and sipped it. by now I had let his hand go. Now I sat at the table.
"So.. " I said in an attempt to make conversation. "what are we talking about?"
