When the sun comes up you know that I'll be leaving
Jewel didn't know how to break it to him. She was so nervous that she almost chickened out of showing up.
When Phil walked into the café, her heart stopped as she watched him smile and walk in her direction. She couldn't just leave, she had to tell him.
Phil kissed her cheek, then sat across from her, "How's your day love?"
Jewel grinned, "My day's great, thanks." She told him, watching as he smiled at her once more.
She felt her heart shatter. How was she to tell Phil? Either she'd have to tell him.
She reached across the table, "Phil, honey I have to tell you something."
Phil tensed up, "You're pregnant?" He whispered, and she laughed as she shook her head.
"No, I'm not pregnant."
Phil let out a sigh of relief, then looked up at her. "Then what it is? I'm sure it's not too bad."
Jewel frowned. He's so optimistic, she thought, I'm gonna miss that so much.
"Phil, a couple days ago, at the bar while I was performing, a man approached me. He said he was a music producer and he wanted to sign me."
Phil smiled widely, "Jewel, that's fantastic!" He watched her frown at him, and his smile faded, "Wha.. Isn't that what you want?"
"It is, don't get me wrong." She began. "But.. I have to move to L.A. if I wanna pursue this dream of mine."
In that moment, Phil felt his whole world fall apart around him.
