And the time just keeps on crashing into you
Phil felt like two weeks wasn't enough time. It's already been a week and in six days, his first love will leave him to follow her dreams across the world.
He sat across from her at a fancy restaurant. He wanted these last six days to be perfect, no crying, no sadness. Just happiness. He wanted her last few memories of him to be happy ones.
Phil tried to make jokes to make her smile and laugh, and he was glad to see that it was working. Everytime she laughed, he felt at ease. He knew she would look back and smile instead of be sad.
He walked her home after the dinner. She held a firm grip on his arm, laughing whenever he would trip or step in a puddle and complain about his shoes getting wet.
When they showed up at her front door, they turned and faced one another. "This reminds me of our first date." Jewel smiled at him, and Phil blushed as he thought back to it.
He brought her to a nice little café, and walked her back home afterwards. When they got back to her front door, they stood in awkward silence until Phil kissed her cheek then said goodbye, watching her enter her flat.
"I remember spilling coffee on me." Phil laughed, and she giggled.
"Yeah you spilled it on me as well." They were both laughing now. She grabbed his hands, taking a step forward. "Thank you for an awesome night."
He felt cold material on his right hand, and he looked down, seeing the promise ring. He smiled at it, then at her, "You're absolutely welcome."
She didn't need to get on her tip toes, as this time she was wearing heels. So she just leaned forward and kissed Phil, smiling as he wrapped his arms around her. She placed her hands on his chest, feeling his heart race through his chest.
He backed away from the kiss, smiling at her. "Goodnight." He watched her unlock her door, and turned to walk away as she walked inside.
He let out a small yelp when Jewel grabbed the back of his collar, pulling him back inside and slamming the door shut.
Phil wasn't leaving tonight.
