"Jessica Amelia Myles! Quit locking yourself in your room and come down here this instance!"

Mothers, am I right? I checked my makeup in the mirror one last time before finally exiting my room. It's my twenty-sixth birthday today and my mother planned a dinner party for me. What I didn't know was that she invited Andy. Andy is sort of my ex. Well I guess it doesn't count because we never really dated. All the girls out there reading this will understand what I'm trying to get across. Anyways, he started dating Juliet Simms and I became a ghost to him. Just fifteen years of friendship down the drain. So when I saw Andy's car pull up in the driveway, I was shocked to say the least. I walked down in-well I'll just show you.

My parents are one of the riches couples in America and we're Australian. My mother was an actress when she was younger and my father is a producer. Although they don't seem to be in love anymore because of their constant fighting, they still kiss each other at the doorway each night. They did that on the night they got married and ever since then.

"Oh darling, you're looking beautiful." Mother commented and kissed my cheek.

"Thank you mom, the place looks like the maid actually came into clean today." I said, my mother and her friends laughed. "Well if you excuse me, I'm going to catch up with a few people."

I headed straight to Andy and I noticed he also had the audacity to bring two of his friends.

"Andy, how nice of you to make it and bring two friends." I said sarcastically.

One of his friends took my hand and kissed it. "Enchante." I pulled my hand away.

"Sorry about him, that's Ashely. And on my right is Jinxx." Andy introduced.

"Andy I don't care, just leave." I requested.

"But you invited me. I thought we were gonna build bridges." He said.

"My mom invited you, I didn't. Where's your girlfriend anyways?" I asked.

"She left him." Jinxx said.

"I don't even care, just leave and never come back."

"Dude I thought you said that she was your best friend?" Ashely asked Andy.

"She is, I'm just no longer hers." Andy said.

"Oh no, it's story time with Andy." Jinxx said. I sighed deeply. Why do they have to be so annoying? Why can't they just leave me alone? It is my birthday after all.

"Well it was the fall of 2010. I still had my rock star long hair, but Jesse didn't look quite like she does now. No, she had pink hair, with black streaks. She was almost a groupie, but we never slept together. She and I were the closest best friends that would ever be. We told each other everything and spent all our free time together. Then one night we kissed. Then every night after that we kissed. But then I told her "Jesse no more. This will ruin our friendship."" Andy said before I interrupted him.

"You left out the part where you went out on a date with Juliet." I said and his friends ooohhed.

"Okay before I told her it would ruin our friendship, I did go out on a harmless date with Juliet." Andy confessed.

"Not cool bro." Jinxx commented.

"It's not like we were dating, it wasn't official." Andy protested. Then Ashley shook his head.

"You can't go messing around with people's emotions like that man." Ashley commented.

"You're just saying that because you wanna get in her pants." Andy stated.

"Andy, maybe we should talk more privately in the backyard." I suggested and he agreed. We went out to the deck and sat down on the swing.

"I still wanted to be friends, I didn't mean to ruin things between us." Andy stated and nodded.

"It hurt, why did you even kiss me in the first place then?" I asked.

"Uh you kissed me." He said.

"No, you kissed me. We were watching football like we always did, your favourite team won, and you kissed me."

"But wasn't it nice?"

"You're ridiculous, I can't even discuss this with you."

"What do you expect me to say Jess? I messed up, bad. I kissed my best friend and then went on a date with another girl. It wasn't cool, it was wrong. And then I made the worst choice of my life, I chose Juliet over you. There's nothing I regret more."

"Is that it?" I asked.

"Yeah."

I got up and went back inside. I sat in my father's office and thought to myself. What is Nathan gonna think? Nathan is my boyfriend. We've been dating for about a month and I know my mother must have invited him this evening just to spite me. Nate barely knows me and tonight's gonna be a lot to take in. I just hope Nate will still want me after tonight.

There was a knock on the door. Maria opened it.

"Dinner's ready dear."
