I walked out of my father's office and into the dining room. Twenty-three people were seated at the table, waiting for me to take my seat. Lucky me, I get to sit between Andy and my boyfriend.

"You look beautiful." Nathan said as I took my seat.

"I don't think we've been aquatinted, my name's Andy." He interrupted.

"I'm Nathan, Jessica's boyfriend." He said.

"Jesse never told me she had a boyfriend, or even the fact that you're Australian." Andy said.

"Why does it matter that I'm Australian?" Nate asked.

"Andy stop." I warned him.

"Fine." Andy said.

"Can we all raise a glass to my beautiful daughter?" My father stood with a glass of champagne in his right hand. "It's been twenty-six long years with Jessica, and I have to say she has turned into a beautiful woman, just like her mother. I remember the day Maggie told me she was pregnant. Maggie had this shy expression on her face, she couldn't even look me in the eye. I started to cry when she told me." Oh here comes the waterworks, my dad's so sweet. "Here I am crying now, because my baby has turned into one of the most wonderful people in the world. Happy birthday Jesse." He cheered and we all took a sip of our drinks. I walked over to the old man and kissed his cheek. I walked back to my seat and Nathan stood up.

"Well I guess this is the perfect time then." Nathan said.

"What do you mean? What are you doing?" I asked.

He grabbed something out of his pocket. This is wayyyyyyyyyyy too early for a proposal, what is he doing?

"I know we've only known each other for just over a month, but I have never been happier than when I'm with you. We've gone out on how many dates? About seven. And I know this is early and all, but Jess will you move in with me?" He asked. Oh thank god, I thought it was gonna be, well you know.
All eyes in the room were on me, except Andy's, his remained on the table.

"Yes." I said softly. Nate handed me the key to his apartment and kissed me passionately. We both sat down.

"I'm so glad you said yes, I thought you were gonna break up with me for asking so early." Nate cooed.

"Have you guys ruffled the sheets?" Andy asked and I stomped on his foot. "Ouch! It's a genuine question."

"Listen man, you're starting to really get on my nerves." Nate stated to Andy.

"Well you're already on mine." Andy said with a smirk. "Jess, you free Saturday? Maybe we could catch up where we left off."

"No." I put my foot down.

"Is he your ex or something?" Nate asked me.

"See this is where it gets complicated Nate. She'll say I was, but I can't agree with her because we never went on a date." Andy cooed in.

"What is he even saying?" Nate asked me.

"Can we talk outside?" I asked and Nate nodded.

"Great, I need a breath of fresh air." Andy commented.

We all headed to the front yard and I sat on the steps.

"Andy messed with my feelings near the end of our friendship, he's here for forgiveness." I stated.

"Well kind of, yes." Andy said.

"Well it doesn't mean you have to act like an ass." Nate said to Andy.

"Any attention is attention, good or bad." Andy said and sat next to me. Nate sat on the other side of me.

"Jess, can I hit him?" Nate asked me.

"Don't." I said.

"Wow, you must still care about my well being." Andy said to me. I do. After all he put me through, I still do. He was my first best friend, he was even my first love. He took me to prom, he had me move in with him after high school, he brought me on tour with him. So how could I say that I didn't care?

"Of course I do." I said softly and let down my hair.

"That's just great! He crashes your party, acts like a complete asshole to not only me, but you, and you still care about him! That's just great." Nate said sarcastically as he stood up.

Andy got to his feet. "Dude calm down, we're all friends here." He said with a smirk.

Nate swung his arm and punched Andy in the face, knocking him down. Luckily I caught his head before it hit the porch. "Nathan, I think you should go." I snapped. I held Andy's head up and watched as his eye began to swell up.

"Really, you're choosing him over me?" Nathan asked.

"I'm not choosing anyone, now leave!" I spat and he did.

"How bad is it Doc?" Andy asked.

"It's a black eye, you'll be fine." I said. "I'm sorry."

"Don't be, can we go inside now?" Andy asked and I laugh at his little boy voice.

"Yeah." I helped him get up, we went to the kitchen to get him some cold peas from the freezer and returned to the dinner table, as if nothing had occurred.
