The Calm

He looks so peaceful and innocent when he sleeps, it's as if he could do no harm. I am happy to be waking up next to him, but it feels wrong. I was mad at Andy for cheating, but then I go around and do this? There is something definitely wrong with me.
And this isn't how I wanted things for Alex and myself. I didn't want to put him into a situation like this, but I did.
I could do what my instincts have been screaming at me to do since I woke up, I could run. But running has never seemed to help me. I don't want a barrier between Alex and me anymore, I want to be with him and nobody else.
So I'm going to stay here. When Alex wakes up, we're going to go and have a nice breakfast. Then he'll drop me off at the BVB bus to grab my belongings, and I'll end up on the ATL bus, the bus I suppose to be on all along. Or at least I hope it turns out that easy.

"Hey beautiful." He said. I loved how husky his voice is when he first wakes up.

"Hey, we should be getting up soon before the buses leave without us." I stated, which made Alex jump out of bed.

"What time is it?! What time is it?!" He asked frantically.

I threw a pillow at him and he caught it. "It's five, the buses don't leave till six, relax Gaskarth."

He dropped the pillow, "Jesus Jess, you had me scared for a moment." He said and then climbed back into bed.

"We should still leave though." I said as I got to my feet. "I want to get all my things onto the ATL bus before six." I put my dress back on and Alex zipped me up. He got his clothes back on and then we checked out of the hotel.

Everyone on the BVB bus was awake, but this was usually the time when they'd grab breakfast from a local joint. I walked right onto the bus with Alex as my shadow and headed towards the bunks.

"Well look who's back, you two kids have fun last night?" Ashley teased.

I laughed, "Quiet down Purdyboy, why aren't you out with the others for breakfast?" I asked.

"Because I wanted to see if you'd finally take my advice, I have to admit, I feel pretty good right now."

"I do too." I said. Ash gave me a quick hug and kissed my forehead.

"My mission is complete, but call me if you ever get bored. I'll try to make the guys take a little longer while you grab your things." Then he left the bus.

Alex called Jack, Zack, and Rian to help move my things, personally I don't remember packing this much. We were able to move everything quickly without a hiccup. Lastly I wrote a small note and left in on Andy's bed.
It read:

Andy,
I don't know what I did to deserve a guy like you, I really don't. I don't know why I deserved to be disrespected by you for so long, I don't know why I deserved to be used as your little trophy girlfriend as you snuck around with your ex. All I know is that I deserve happiness now, and that's just what I am now that you're out of my life. Come near me again and I'll call the police.

Yours Truly,
Jess

PS. Fuck you asshole!

I must say, that was a pretty satisfying note to write.

I looked down at my phone and it read: 6:07. The bus had started moving and I was sitting next to all of my best friends. Jack was taking funny Snapchat pics. Zack and Rian were playing video games. And Alex fell asleep right next to me. I was finally happy, that is until my phone rang. I quickly got up to try not to disturb Alex, and answered the phone in my bunk.

"Hello?" I asked.

"How dare you accuse me of being unfaithful? I've been nothing but faithful since we started this whole thing!" Andy shouted, he was furious.  "Meanwhile, you've been sneaking around with Alex and I've been trying to cope with that."

"You think I was sneaking around? Take a look in the mirror pal. Don't say that kind of bullshit to me. We both know that you've been cheating on me, not the other way around."

"You've been cheating on me with not only Alex, but also Ashley, my best friend. Stop lying Jess, I know what you've done. And when I get my hands on you, you'll wish that you hadn't had done this to me." Then the line went dead.

What the hell did he mean? Was that a threat?

I shook it off, not wanting the bad vibes to rain on my parade, and returned back to the couch.

"Who was on the phone?" Jack asked.

"Andy's just pissed off, doesn't matter though." I stated.

"It kinda does Jess. As Alex's bestest best friend, it is my job to protect his girlfriend in his absence." Jack stated.

"Jack, he's only asleep." Rian added.

"That counts. So what'd he say to you?" Jack asked again.

"He was trying to make me look like I was the one who was been an asshole." I said.

"That's it? Nothing else I should worry about?"

"No."
