Chapter 16: To the beach!

We have been walking for what seems like days but finally we make it. I can smell the salty seawater and see the sun beating down on us as the small waves shiver across the beach. “Race you there!” yells Light as he speeds ahead down the hill. I start to chase after him, the wind blowing my mane back, the soft sand on my hooves, the feeling of happiness.

I over take Light and we race neck to neck as I start to win, we look at each other and unfortunately don’t see that Twilight (with Spike on her back) is very close in front of us, she has already made it there. I see Twilight in the corner of my eye, “Look out!” I yell to Light and Twilight. To late! We trip over Twilight and fall over onto the sand. We all burst out laughing and luckily nopony got hurt.

“Twilight, how did you get here before us?” I ask when I finally finish laughing. “You two just ran through the plants and sand, I saw a path just next to where you ran, it was a short cut, if you two weren’t going so fast you would have seen it". I start laughing again, if we where going slower we would have seen a short cut. “Sorry we ran into you Twilight” says Light. “That’s ok, I’m fine, so do you ponies want to eat yet or will I just have it all” she replies. “Oh, we will definitely help you eat all that” says Light.

“Mmm, this is delicious Twilight, did you make it yourself?” I say as I eat one of the sandwiches. “yeah, I made the sandwiches and the scones but Apple Jack made all the apple things, thanks” replies Twilight. “Well does anypony want to come and swim with me?” I ask as I finish off my food. “Sure thing Luna” replies Light, I’m so glad that he said yes. “I’m sorry Luna and Light but you have to wait thirty minutes before swimming after you have eaten” says Twilight, “don’t sweat it Twilight, we are only going in the shallow end and we won’t go under, ok?” replies Light. “Alright, but be careful” answers Twilight “I will be here reading”. “mmm, I’m definitely not going swimming, I wont more of this delicious food” says Spike as he eats more food, we all laugh.

I jump into the water, the cool chill freezes up my hooves. “ff-f-f-ff-freezing cold water!” I call out to Light, that was a bit silly, as if it was going to be boiling hot. “Come in deeper, or are you a chicken?” replies Light, “you told Twilight we where only going in the shallow end, she might see us” I say. “Fine chicken” mocks Light. “I’m the chicken? Then how do you like this!” I say as I kick water over him. “Aarrgghhh!” he yells. “Well, what about this!” he says as he kicks water over me. It is freezing cold but this is so much fun. It is an all out war from splashing water to throwing seaweed. I tosh water at him as he throws seaweed at me, Twilight was right, this is fun.

I look up to the shore just to see that Twilight and Spike are all right. They look fine; Spike is sun tanning on a towel with his sunnies and Twilight is lying under the umbrella read- aarrgghhh! Light has kicked more water on me and I wasn’t even looking! “Hey! Unfair, get back here!” I yell as Light swims out further and I try to kick water at him. We swim around for a lot longer than we expected. Playing, splashing, swimming; having fun.

We start leaving and packing up, “what a time we had” I say, “Twilight, you where right that was fun”. “Yes it was great, I read a great book, now I know what to do next time we go to the beach” Twilight replies. “And I got a wicked tan, do you ponies think Rarity will notice?” says Spike,  “I think she will, it’s hard not to Spike, your green scales have gone really dark” says Twilight. We all laugh as we walk home as the sun goes down.
