"oh, i'm sorry i didn't know." gerard said.
"ah, no need to be sorry." frank began drawing circles with the tip of his foot on the ground. "i guess i'll see you round, yeah?" he began walking away from gerard, knowing he might never see him ever again.
"wait frankie!"
frank turned around and sported a confused look on his face. frankie? he thought.
"frank, why don't you - stay at my place?" gerard smiled.
"no," frank shook his head. "you need privacy, i wouldn't want to-"
"it'll be fine. plus, it gets lonely, especially at night." gerard tried to convince frank.
"are you sure, gerard?"
he nodded. "never been more sure."
frank shrugged. "okay, i guess."
"yay." gerard said confidently. frank followed gerard out of the subway station and out on the streets of new york city. they walked for twenty minutes, until they finally reached gerard's apartment building.
gerard opened the door, letting frank in. they went into the elevator, just talking and laughing. gerard knew taking frank in would be like living with a close friend, but he also realized he didn't know frank well enough. he agreed to work it out with him tomorrow.
"which one is yours?" frank said as he looked in awe at all the doors in the hallway.
"1031. it's the one all the way at the end." gerard chuckled. frank nodded, silently trailing behind his friend down the hall.
once they reached the door, gerard remembered that he only had one bed. "um... frank?"
"yeah?" frank said, too excited.
"i only have one bed..."
"oh, i can sleep on the couch, it's cool." frank smiled.
gerard shook his head. "i'll give you my bed. i'll sleep on the couch."
"seriously?" frank's eyes widened.
gerard smiled widely, overjoyed with frank's happiness. "yeah! i'm fine with it."
"oh man, thanks so much dude." frank hugged gerard around the neck involuntarily. gerard hugged back, grabbing his waist tightly. he then led frank into the apartment.
it was a small apartment. one bedroom and two bathrooms. the kitchen and living room were combined, as well as the dining area. it was neat, frank thought. he all of a sudden felt invasive as he stood, stationary.
"frankie?" gerard asked as he put all his stuff down. "you know you can look around, haha. make yourself at home."
"oh, right." frank walked around, not wanting to look in the rooms in fear of being rude. he sat on the couch, leaning back in comfort. he's never had this much for a while. no more sleeping on the streets, he thought to himself. no more mean people, no more pain.
