gerard and lyn-z walked to a sandwich place a little over two blocks away from the school. lyn-z tried talking to gerard while they walked, but he plugged in his earbuds and ignored her the entire way there.

they ate in the restaurant, and lyn-z took it as a date, almost. she had a massive crush on gerard, but she never had the guts to say anything. today was somehow a special day. she didn't know why, but it just was.

"hey gerard?" lyn-z said, trying to call gerard's attention. "gerard?"

gerard looked up at lyn-z, and took out his earbuds.

"can i talk to you?"

gerard knew he'd regret putting his earbuds back in and not listening to her, so he did talk to her. "sure, what's up?"

lyn-z gulped. her face flushed bright red as she opened her mouth to speak.

"ilikeyou." lyn-z rushed.

gerard raised his eyebrows. "huh-repeat that again? and uh, slower, please."

lyn-z sighed. "i. like. you."

gerard's mind was blown. she likes me? but she can't, gerard thought. we barely started talking before today. this is crazy.

"oh?" gerard didn't know what to say.

lyn-z brushed her long, black hair out of her face and behind her ears. "yeah... i know it's weird but... i don't know..."

gerard closed his eyes for a while, and opened them to see frank sitting in front of him.

"frank?"

"what?"

lyn-z's voice came out of frank, as his image starting fading into lyn-z. oh, gerard thought. i was just...

imagining.

"who's frank?" lyn-z snapped.

gerard searched for the door. he saw it, then looked back at lyn-z who was waiting for an answer.

in panic, gerard ran straight out the door and ran far away from the sandwich shop. he ran into a bar, which for some reason was serving alcohol in the morning.

gerard sat at the bar and ran his fingers through his hair.

"gerard?"

he looked up to see a blonde man with that same lip piercing he saw him get back in high school.

"bob!" gerard smiled as he high-fived his high school friend, bob bryar.

"dude, what are you doing here? don't you have school?" bob chuckled.

"i'm on my lunch break," gerard's smile faded. "i don't want to go back to school right now, though."

bob frowned a little. "what's wrong?"

gerard sighed. "i, uh... long story."

bob looked around at the bar and rested his chin on his hand. "i have time."

"okay." gerard started. "so, you know i'm bi, right?"

bob nodded.

"well, i'm dating this guy. he's adorable, name's frank iero."

bob's eyes widened. "no way dude! pencey prep guy?"

gerard smiled and nodded. "yeah. anyways, uh, we're together. one of my classmates and i went out for lunch today... i didn't ask her to come-she just came with me and she told me she, um, likes me. i didn't know what else to do, so i just left and here i am."

"man," bob laughed unusually hard. "where she at right now?"

gerard shrugged as he regretted leaving her. "i don't know... she's either looking for me, or heading back to school."

bob kept laughing. "i kinda feel bad for her. dude, you reacted pretty sour towards her. the least you can do is apologize."

gerard nodded. "i did kind of ignore her on our trip to the sandwich shop."

"dude what are you doing!?" bob slapped gerard straight across the face. "you acted so awful to her. would you do that with frank?"

gerard sighed. "no, i wouldn't."
