chapter five →

Darcy walked down the hallways of her high school yet again, looking for Maxwell. She hadn't seen him since yesterday at lunch time and she really needed a hug and a kiss from her boyfriend. She turned around the corner and saw him talking to a few of his friends.

When he saw his girlfriend he lit up, pushed past his friends and walked over to her. "I missed you." He smiled, Darcy nuzzled her head in to the crook of his neck. "I missed you too, yesterday sucked." She said, rubbing her eyes.

"What? Why?" Maxwell asked her, he held his arm around her waist and led her to her locker. Darcy had to get her book. "I had to tutor Luke, as you know, and he just did not focus on what I was saying, changing the subject and he was even a bit flirty, very uncool if you ask me, especially since I have a boyfriend." She said.

"I'll talk to him, then, we don't want somebody hitting on my girl, right?" Maxwell said, winking at the words my girl. Darcy blushed and kissed his cheek. When they got to her locker she got her books and they continued walking to their first period.

"Please don't, I don't want things to get out of hand. I'm just going to tell Ms. Edgar I don't want to tutor him anymore, we should both keep distance from him I guess." Darcy spoke again, Maxwell furrowed his eyebrows. "Wait, Darcy, he is still my friend, he might've been unreasonable with you but there must've been a good explanation for it, he knows I like you, he's a good guy, really." Maxwell said, slightly pissing off Darcy. "Whatever." She said, letting go of his hand and walking in to English class, ready to talk to Ms. Edgar.

"Hello Darcy, Luke told me the tutoring session went well yesterday." She smiled, Darcy stared at Luke who was already sitting in his seat, smirking. "About that, Ms. Edgar." Darcy started saying. "I can't do it anymore, I can't tutor him." She said, in the hope Ms. Edgar would understand.

"Well dear, why?" She asked, "I feel very uncomfortable around him and he acts unreasonable, it makes me feel very nervous and he made my best friends hate me." Darcy said, looking down. Cara and Lola did hate her because of Luke, if you thought about it.

"I am sorry he makes you feel that way, but unfortunately, there is nothing I can do about it except telling him to go easy on you. If you stop tutoring him and he does not pass, it will have a very negative effect on your grade." She said, I stared at her, my eyes slightly widened.

That was the moment she realized she could not stop tutoring him. How much he was hurting her at this moment, it was going to hurt her even more personally if she would stop, this English grade means the world to Darcy, if she wanted to go to the college of her dreams, she had to pass this year with enough credit and an A.

"I'm very sorry dear, if you would feel comfortable with it we can make you tutor him in detention class so there will be a teacher there, when you're finished you can just leave." She said, that was going to get Luke even angrier, and at this point she was slightly scared of him. "No, it's okay." Darcy said and walked away from the desk.

She walked through the classroom and sat down in the far back, her book laying in front of her, and even though she usually paid great attention to Ms. Edgar, today she just could not focus. Her mind was wandering off to Luke and how he was so confusing.

After another few tiring classes, Darcy walked through the cafeteria with her lunch bag, spotting a green mop of hair. She always found them through Michael's hair, she was very lucky with that. She walked over and sat down in between Michael and Maxwell.

Even though she was the slightest bit pissed off at Maxwell for not realizing she really did not like Luke, he was still her boyfriend and she liked him. Maxwell looked at her for a few seconds and then kissed her nose, "I'm sorry for being like that." He said and Darcy nodded.

She laid her head on his shoulder and opened her lunch bag. From the corner of her eye, she could see Luke glaring. She didn't know why, but whenever he looked at her, she immediately felt uncomfortable.

She turned her head and stared at Maxwell who was laughing with some of his friends, she smiled at the sight of him being happy, at least one of them was.
