chapter six →

"Calum, please." Darcy begged the tanned boy, she stared him in to his eyes while he just had one eyebrow raised. "It's the best idea I've had in weeks!" Darcy let her body fall back to hit her duvet covers.

Calum just stared at the girl, shaking his head and then joining her, laying besides her. "It's not fair, Darc." He said, Darcy knew that, but she could not tutor him once more.

It had been a week since she asked Ms. Edgar if she could stop tutoring Luke, and now she was thinking there must be a way. She had tutored Luke once in this week, he was still annoying but tried to listen to Darcy explaining him things.

"Please, you have to do this for me, you at least like Luke!" Darcy then told Calum, softly hitting his bicep. "But what if Ms. Edgar finds out?" Calum said, tilting his head to look in to Darcy's eyes.

"You're right." She sighed and got up and walked over to her closet. "I shouldn't have asked you to tutor him in the first place, it would not be honest." She said while putting on her leather jacket.

"You can go hang out with Ashton, I'm going to Maxwell's." She groaned, opened her bedroom door and left Calum in her room.

He was like her brother, she trusted Calum. Probably too much, but she could care less.

She walked down the stairs to see Ashton and Michael sitting at the kitchen island. Darcy furrowed her eyebrows and walked over to the boys, "Everything okay?" She asked, standing in between the two.

They both looked at her and nodded, "Just talking." Michael said, Darcy then walked over to the other side of the kitchen and stared at them. "About what?" She asked them, they both turned their heads to stare at each other and then they looked back at Darcy. "Nothing." Ashton said.

She raised her eyebrows and stared at them until Calum came strolling down the stairs. "Whatever, I'm heading to Maxwell." She said, turning her heel. She saw Michael widening his eyes but didn't think it would be about her. "Bye!" She yelled before closing the front door and walking towards Maxwell's house.

After a good ten minute walk, she arrived at Maxwell's house and rang the doorbell. Sadly, she was surprised by Luke opening the door for her. She groaned and pushed her body past his, her shoulder brushing his chest.

"Where is my boyfriend?" She asked while walking in to the living room to see the television on and nobody else there. Luke walked past her over to the kitchen to pour himself a drink. "He's running an errand, told me I could stay her in the meantime." He said, walking back over to the living room.

He sat down on the couch and put his feet on the table in front of him, staring back at the television. "Great." Darcy groaned and walked over to the fridge to pour herself a drink as well. She then sat down by the kitchen island and started scrolling through her phone.

After fifteen minutes, Maxwell still hadn't come back. "How long has he been gone by now?" Darcy yelled at Luke who turned his head to see the girl. "Like half an hour or something." He said and then focussed his stare on the television again. Darcy groaned and then grabbed her phone in her hand again.

She stared at the previous messages between Maxwell and her, doubting if she should text him. Darcy decided to wait ten more minutes and if he still wasn't home, she'd leave.

Ten minutes passed and Darcy was done, she got up and let out a soft sigh. Luke looked up a second, seeing her walk out of the kitchen. "You're leaving?" He said, Darcy was annoyed enough, she didn't need his comments to make it worse.

She walked over to the front door just to be surprised by it opening. Maxwell stood in the door opening.

"Darcy?" He said, furrowing his eyebrows and fixing his hair. "Hey what are you doing here, how long have you been waiting for me?" He said, opening his arms and giving her a small hug and a kiss.

"Forty minutes, actually." Darcy scoffed and stared at him, crossing her arms. "Where were you?"  She asked him, staring at him. "I uh- I was just bringing some food to a friend of my mum's." He said, grabbing her hand and pulling her in to the living room.

"Luke!" Maxwell yelled and walked over to pat his back. "What are you still doing here?" He laughed and sat down next to him. "Jack texted me I couldn't come home for another thirty minutes." Luke answered laughing.

Darcy's phone lighted up from out of her hand, it was a text from Ashton.

Come home, now.

A little harsh, but she was planning on leaving anyways. "Hey, Max, I'm leaving." She said, staring at the back of his head. "Yeah okay, bye."

She raised an eyebrows but shrugged and closed the door. She started the short walk home and after fifteen minutes she arrived home.

When she walked in she could see her brother and his two best friend sitting on the couch. She raised her eyebrows and made sure they could hear her walking in. "Hey." She said eventually, and then sat down on the chair.

"Why the sudden harshness, Ash?" She said, staring at her brother that played with his hands and did not answer. "Ashton?" She said again, slightly getting annoyed by now. "Hello? Answer me!" She groaned, yelling at them.

"I don't know how to tell you this, Darcy." He groaned, letting his head fall back. "What?" She said, "What do you need to tell me?" She said, a puzzled look on her face.

"Darcy, Maxwell is cheating on you."
