Y'all were right... (I'm just a big cliché.)
Grace screamed as the bullet hit her, then all was silent as if nothing ever happened.
Dan dragged himself over to Phil, who now lied on the cold ground, perfectly still. "Phil?" Dan poked his pale blue face, tying to wake him. "Phil, please." He began to sob, fearing that Phil was dead, and from the realization that he had just shot someone. He didn't want to shoot her, he just wanted Phil to be safe; and now Grace, and possibly Phil, were gone, taken from his life.
Blood pored out of Grace's forehead and onto Dan's skin, and policemen rushed into the room, but Dan couldn't hear of feel any of it. He was suddenly dragged away from Phil, and he heard somebody scream. For all he knew, it could've been him, but he had lost all ability to feel alive.
Next thing he knew, a mask was put over his face and all he could see was black.
~~~
When Dan awoke, the first thing he saw was white. White walls, white ceiling, white floor, white bed, white sheets. The only splash of color was coming from the tubes that were stabbed into his skin, connecting to a machine that was tracking his heart rate and pumping water into his body. Suddenly, he remembered.
"Phil!" Dan shot up, pulling the IV tubes out of his unnaturally boney arm, immediately feeling dizzy. "Phil!" He made it all the way to the door when a nurse showed up, wearing a pink mask and dress-like outfit. She blocked the door, and Dan felt something stab into his forearm. Yet again, everything went black.
~~~
He woke up again, but before he could move, a gentle and small hand was placed on his shoulder. "Hi, I'm nurse Maria. We'll be letting you out today, but first we need to ask you some questions. How do you feel?"
Dan gasped for air, his lungs seemingly closing. "Phil!"
Maria smiled. "Don't worry, your friend Philip is fine. He'll be discharged tomorrow, if everything goes well." Dan let out the breath he didn't know he was holding. "Now, let's try this again. How do you feel?"
"Um, fine, I guess..." Dan looked away, still shocked that Phil was okay.
Maria nodded. "Alright. Are you experiencing any pain at the moment?"
Dan shook his head, figuring she Kent physical.
Maria wrote something down. "Alright. That means everything's perfectly fine. You're free to go when you're ready."
Dan almost laughed, immediately jumping up when Maria had left. He got dressed and packed his stuff, practically running out the door to see Phil.
~~~
Phil lied in his hospital bed, hoping Dan was alright. He hadn't seen Dan in a while and when he asked about him, he'd just get the same response: "Let's not worry about him, I'm sure he's perfectly fine."
As if it were magic, Dan burst through the door looking flustered but prettier than ever, covered in sweat, his hair in brown curls, and a bag in his hand.
"Dan?"
"Phil!"
He younger ran to Phil, picking him up and twirling him around in his arms. The two were so happy to see each other that neither of them noticed when Phil's IV tubes ripped out of his wrist.
Tears streamed down both of their faces as their lips connected. The feeling was fabulous, and they couldn't think of anything but how the other tasted and felt. It was a kiss full of feeling and love. Their lips fit perfectly together.
When they finally broke apart, it was only because they couldn't breathe.
"You were right," Phil whispered. "You did get me out."
Dan smiled. "Of course I did."
"I love you so much, Danny."
"I love you too, Phil."
The end.
So, here's where I would say my sappy goodbyes, if his were the end, but... there's more! There will be an epilogue, so enjoy that, I guess. Also, I'm sorry for this story being cliché as fuck.
Have a lovely day!
