It was early in the morning. The chirping of the birds outside was more like a racket. This day was not as sunny as the last few days. The sky seemed cloudy and showed signs of a few drops of rain. No one was awake yet except for Misha. She had woken up early in the morning and was busy in the kitchen. Despite not being in her home for four years, she remembered where everything was. There was a round dinning table in the centre of the kitchen and on it she had placed a tray. Two duck eggs were being fried in the frying pan and muffin bread was being baked in the oven. There was tea being brewed on the stove and Misha was setting the tray with great care. She didn’t brag about it but she was very good at cooking. The eggs were done and so was the tea. She tilted the frying pan on a white plate. The eggs smoothly slid on the plate with sunny side up. By the time she was done pouring the tea in tea cups, the bread was done as well. Misha had added honey in it as well. It smelled delicious. She sliced it into small heart shaped pieces and placed them on a plate. Then she sprinkled the pieces with small honey drops. The breakfast was complete. She carried the tray upstairs.

After standing in front of the door for a while, she placed the tray on the floor and brushed her hair with her fingers. She had applied red lipstick to her lips and even used one of Selena’s perfumes. She was looking heavenly beautiful but was not satisfied. She was unable to do something to make her appearance less human. She picked up the tray again and gulped. She knocked on the door.

‘Come in,’ came Zen’s voice. Feeling extremely nervous, she pushed the door open and stepped in. Zen’s room was almost empty except for a bed, a wardrobe and a few swords in the corner. Zen was sitting on his bed shirtless; he had just taken a bath and had a towel on his shoulders.

‘Misha,’ he said slightly surprised. He hung his legs on the side of the bed and was about to stand up.

‘Hi…um…morning,’ she said, ‘I made you breakfast. You didn’t have any dinner either.’

‘Oh…thanks,’ he said attempting to smile.

Misha smiled as well at his friendly gesture. She walked in and placed the tray on the table on the side of the bed. She sat on the bed too, a little away from him.

‘I’m sorry about last night,’ said Misha, ‘my friends were acting rude.’

‘I was rather rude too,’ he said, ‘I am sure it is understandable since we are originally enemies.’

There was silence.

‘So you really consider them your friends?’ he asked.

‘Yes,’ said Misha, ‘they came for me when even I had given up on myself.’

‘I guess I should be grateful to them for freeing you,’ he said smiling. Misha beamed and moved a little closer to him.

‘I really missed you,’ she said.

‘Me too,’ said Zen. He moved a little closer as well. She looked directly into his eyes. His eyes were yellow like an eagle and had a piercing look. Last night he was angry and had acted rashly but right now Misha could see the past Zen. She could always feel secure around him.

‘So,’ he said, looking away, ‘don’t tell me you are planning on doing something dangerous in Mictlan.’

Misha snapped out of her daydreaming about how great Zen was.

‘We are on a mission,’ she said.

‘What…what exactly is the mission?’ he asked.

‘Um…’ Misha thought. Lance had refused to tell him their mission. She on the other hand trusted Zen completely. The others hadn’t known him for so long. He was hotheaded, harsh but loving and caring. Zen had always had a strong sense of duty but when the time had come, he had given Misha the advice to plea to the higher class generals.
