16. The Lightning Incarnate Returns

The atmosphere was electrocuted. Minor bolts of lightning were forming on the ground out of nowhere. Then Selena noticed that the lightning bolts were coming out from Lance’s arms. He wasn’t making it happen on purpose. The lightning was just forming on its own; then more started appearing on Lance’s back, shredding his vest into nothing. Selena laughed out. The mark of the peacekeeper on his back was glowing again and it was glowing so brightly that it seemed like beams of light were coming out from his back. The air was full of the sound of his lightning. It was so tempered that small sparks started erupting all over the place. The trunks of the trees started shattering holes and the ground also started cracking every time it was hit by a bolt. But strangely enough, Selena, Ayesha and Elair were unharmed.

Seth’s eyes were wide. The old man had let gone of the Journal and was watching with his mouth hanging open. The girl was skidding back with her heels and trying to retreat as far as possible. Capricorn had landed back on the ground and it seemed like he had no idea what to do. His dagger was still in contact with Lance’s Raijin’s Edge. Clearly he was wondering whether to retreat or attack but he wasn’t acting on either of it because in his mind, any move he might make might trigger something he could not survive.

‘You were so cocky when you came on the Tower of Sin,’ said Lance, ‘you took advantage of the fact that I was unable to move. You hurt my friends.’

Lance was smiling but when he said this, the environment got raged. The leaves on the trees started tearing into pieces and vanishing. And what was more; Lance wasn’t allowing an ounce of aura to be released. The effect that was altering the environment was simply due to the creation of his Raijin’s Edge.

‘Can we get over with this fight,’ said Lance, ‘I can’t contain my aura for too long during action and I fear what will happen if I don’t.’

SWOOP! Lance pushed the lightning blade against Capricorn’s dagger. The metal blade of the dagger got cut as if made from butter. Capricorn jumped back after loosing his weapon and quickly used his other weird power. He placed his hand on the ground and grabbed the earth. He pulled as if trying to yank a sheet from the floor. SWOOSH!! Two huge spears made from solid earth emerged from the ground. The spears had sharp ends like a blade. He swung them around him and took his stance. Lance was waiting. Selena was so happy and for some reason very angry as well. Her anger was directed towards the zodiac in front of her. All the times when he had cause her mental pain and tortured her friends were coming back to her. Whereas she felt hopeless, afraid and despair in those moments, right now she was fuming with rage. It was like she had suddenly gained lightning powers. Her hands were clenched into fists and her head was leaning forwards as if she was getting ready to pounce.

SWISH! Capricorn winded at Lance. Lance was standing in front and he had even finished his Raijin's Edge. Capricorn pulled back his spears and struck with both of them from above. SLASH! BANG! The spears hit the ground. Lance had vanished. By the time Capricorn turned around…AAAAAAARRRRRRRRHHHH!

The old Dark Blood screamed. Lance was holding him by his face and ZAPPING him. The old man’s body was thrashing. The buzzing sound was intensifying and lightning bolt were visible in Lance’s hand. The old man’s eyes were so wide that it seemed the eye balls would pop out. Soon he started smoking.

‘FATHER!’ shouted the girl. Lance stopped. He looked at the girl then at the old man. He frowned. The man was now limp. Lance hadn’t let gone of his face. He threw him at the girl’s feet. She crawled with trembling hands and legs and lifted her father’s head. His body was still electric charged and was jerking.

‘Father!’ she moaned.

‘Fight me peacekeeper!’ shouted Capricorn, ‘why do you aim for weaklings?’
