Misha broke the surface of the water in dead silence to look at the scene. She knew that the building atop the mountain was the headquarters to the Mictlanian Police. These enforcers of law had the insignia of red sparrow on their chest. That was not all. Misha knew one thing for sure; they were strong. Every one of them had bear arms; big, furry and possessed immense strength. Their hind legs were that of a horse but with huge claws. It was the reason behind their remarkably fast speed. The only human resembling feature about them was their faces. Other than being of pale orange color, it was normal.
Misha thought hard. Their luck had run out. The landing had been too good for both of them but running into the police was one of the worst case scenarios. She tried to look at her options. Other than the legs and arms, their bodies were covered with armor that she knew was impossible to penetrate by throwing knives, kunai or shurikens. They wore helmets that only revealed the front of their faces but she knew it would be hard to aim perfectly unless someone drew their attention. She had a small katana similar to Lance’s but how was she suppose to fight a hundred men with one katana. Lance was powerless and she had no idea of his current capabilities.
Misha knew her movement would be rather slow in wet clothes so she pulled off her cloak underwater and submerged again. She started swimming to the shore, without letting off a hint of her presence, which she was only too good at.
Lance was standing in the middle of the circle with both his katana in their sheaths around his waist. His heart was thumping loudly. He wondered what was going to become of him. The men in front of him had claymores, spears and halberds. Right there, standing in the face of death, Lance forgot everything he had learned during the last year.
‘Who is he?’ asked a man from behind the circle. He alone was riding a weird creature that Lance knew was serving the purpose of a horse. It had six legs and its tail was reptilian. The face was horse like but had two horns like an ibex.
‘He has no aura,’ replied a man with a claymore. ‘He is a human.’
‘Human?’ repeated the captain, ‘peacekeeper?’
‘I don’t think so. He has no aura. Even if he was the peacekeeper and was trying to hide his aura, we could feel it.’
‘Then who is he?’ said the captain, ‘how has a human managed to infiltrate Mictlan?’
But before anyone could answer, there was a scream.
Every head turned around in time to see one of their men fall to the ground, bleeding from the side of his neck. As he fell, he revealed Misha standing behind him. She had her small katana in her hand and her body was bent low. She didn’t hold her katana like a sword but rather like a dagger, in an icepick grip.
SWISH! She pounced at another policeman and slashed but he blocked it with a metal plate covering his forearm. Misha didn’t wait; she bent very low and spun, slashing his legs. Blood spurted out and a few drops fell on her beautiful face.
‘ATTACK HER! Shouted the captain.
The one she had just cut was falling but he swung his claymore wildly. Misha blocked but her hand was smashed aside due to the strength of the attack. She quickly regained her posture in time to dodge a halberd falling on top of her head. She had been holding a kunai in the index and middle finger of her left hand. SWISH! She threw it at the attacker. It hit him in the throat and he fell back, groaning in pain.
Lance was completely taken back by this action scene going on in front of his eyes. He was rooted to the spot while Misha fought with a hundred policemen.
She was completely surrounded now. A man dashed at her with amazing speed and slashed his spear, aiming for her head. She bent low and heard a swishing sound as the spear swiped the air above her head. She got up to find a claymore coming for her neck from her right side. She quickly raised her katana. CLANK! The force of the attack was too much. Her own katana banged with her forearm, bruising it. But she ignored the pain and slashed the man’s throat with her kunai. She missed her target and slashed his chin instead, that had little to no effect. He slashed his claymore again, this time from the left side. She blocked again but this attack had more power behind it. It blew her off her feet. She went flying and hit the ground on her back and quickly rolled back to her feet, slashing the man behind her in the legs. But these men were tough. He didn’t fall and thrust his halberd in her stomach. She quickly swooped to her left side to avoid it piercing her. She managed to prevent the intended injury but got a cut on her right side. It was quite deep. Misha knew that she would not have so much trouble if they hadn’t been wearing armor. It prevented her from using her range attacks and also normal slashes had no effect on the thick metal. She could only stab her katana in the armor if she hoped to kill them. But that movement presented too many openings for the enemies.
