"No fuckin' way!" I squeal on the phone. I'm guessing the agent at the other line is already hating me for breaking his eardrums.

"We'll be sending you the details later by email, Ms. Samson." He says, amused by how giddy and childish I sound.

"Thank you so much!" I manage to say before he hangs up.

I immediately dial my best friend's number, Lara. "AAAAGGGGHHHH!!!" We both scream at the same time. And I know she made the cut, too. "OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD!" I exclaim. "I can't believe we're going together."

"Me, too." She shrieks.

I'm already imagining what the both of us would be doing together in a country I've only once visited when I was ten. Although my mom is Korean, my family and I have never really thought of living there because... Just because.

"By the way," she says when we both finally calmed down, "Mark's going, too."

"Mark?"

"Yup!" She says, getting excited all over again. "We're gonna have so much fun, the three of us."

More like the two of them. My mood suddenly goes down. Ever since Lara and Mark became a thing, three months ago, I never got to see her that often anymore. She's always either with Mark or talking to Mark on the phone.

Lara just recently enrolled in this dance school, where she met Mark. And from that time, we spend lesser time hanging out together. After graduating High School, we took different paths, entering different Universities. We only get to see each other during weekends, or on breaks.

We both love music - dancing and singing- that's a fact. But, aside from that, there's not one single thing that are similar between us. I think that's what made us click. She's the quiet one while I always make a ruckus. She's the girly-girly type, while I'm a bit of a tomboy. She always watches her diet, while I eat like a bear. We just have so many differences that many people wonder how we even became friends.

But, I love her...dearly. I'm the only child in my family and Lara has been my best friend and my sister. We do a lot of things together, argue with each other. We practically grew up together since my dad and hers are co-owners of a law firm.

Mark! I've only met him once, but I really don't like him. Well, not because his personality is bad or anything like that, it's just that he seems to be taking Lara away from me.

"Hey! Cee! Still there?" She's asking.

"Yeah!" I say, sighing. "Wanna sleep over tonight while we talk about our plans?" I try to be excited.

"Uhm...sorry. Mark and I are going out tonight to celebrate. Wanna join us instead?" I know she's sorry, but ....

"No, thanks. I have some things to do anyway." I lie. The only thing I want to do is get rid of that jerk that's been stealing my best friend for the last couple of months.

I seriously thought that this would be our time to chase our dreams together - the two of us. Why would that Mark dude jump in the picture like that? Ugh.... If earlier I was thinking of the fun things Lara and I would be doing, now, I'm thinking of how miserable it would be watching them be lovey-dovey while I would completely be pushed out of the picture.

I receive an email from the agent that night, containing all the whats, whens, wheres and hows of our training. It seems I only have two weeks left in the US before getting into the path I chose.

Of course my dad is so against it. He forced me to take pre-law courses hoping I would soon follow his footsteps. But, that is just not me. Good thing, Lara helped me persuade him.
