"You had everything, Cee. You always left me no choice but to hurt you." Her voice is fading against my weakening senses.
"Lara!" The door slams open and an angered Sean comes in the room, pulling Lara off me.
I gasp for air as soon as her fingers leave my neck and I start coughing. I'm pulled up in a sitting position again, Sean quickly wipes off the blood on my face. "You ok?"
I turn my head to the side, avoiding eye contact with him, still gasping for air.
"Sean. You promised me you wouldn't take her along. What's she doing here?" Lara shouts, hitting Sean on his back. Her cheeks wet with tears.
Sean turns around, holding her wrists, pushing her to the wall. "And you promised you wouldn't hurt her."
"I did everything you asked of me. I killed my father for fuck's sake. And still you choose her?"
Sean is now holding her by the neck against the wall. "I never asked you to kill your dad, Lara. It was your own doing."
Sean's back is against me and Lara is looking straight to the guy's eyes. I grab the opportunity as they are distracted and run towards the open door, not minding my buckling knees and my aching sides.
The boat seems to be bigger compared to the outside. There are more doors than I thought. I am about to run straight to the steps at the other end of the hallway, but I remember Mark. He must still be in here.
I try the first door, but it's locked. I go to the next locked from the outside. I open it and quickly get in, just as I hear Sean shouting my name behind me and I see men coming down from the stairs. I lock it behind me. My heart beating wildly, I close my eyes and let my body slide down to the floor. I'm trapped. I'm fuckin' trapped.
They're now banging on the door and I cover my ears with my hands as my tears escape my eyes once again.
I hear the sound of metal ... a gun. "No." Sean shouts. "Just watch the door. They're not going anywhere. We have to get the boat starting."
Just then that I realize I'm not alone in the room. I get up and see Mark laying on the bed, in deep sleep. I quickly run to his side, shaking his shoulder.
"Mark.." I cry. "Mark....get up." I hit his shoulder, his chest, but he won't budge. "Mark, please. I'm sorry." I rest my head on his chest in exhaustion, crying again.
________
"You're the best." I hugged Lara so tight, my tears not stopping.
"You don't need him. There are other guys out there." She said, comforting me. "Let's just drink, shall we?"
We were parked at our usual spot by the cliff, on the hood of my mom's car is a bottle of vodka which we sneaked out from the restaurant.
"Sean. FUCK YOU!" I shout towards the quiet waters below.
"Fuck all the men." Lara screams, too.
And just with that, all my frustrations, hate and anger disappeared as we continuously cursed and drank until we passed out on the hood of the car and we woke up with the sun shining down on us and a splitting headache.
____
My tears are flowing down the side of my cheeks and a cold hand is wiping them off. "Cris!"
I open my eyes and see Mark looking down at me, looking really worried. I immediately get up and my arms involuntarily go around him. "Mark. You're ok."
