CHAPTER 2
The Head Warrior
'Because no matter how many people love us, our friends and our families, our lovers and our admirers... at the end we're all alone in this scary world.' - Sierra Jacobs.Sierra's POV
I let out a blood curling scream.
"Oh for the love of...Sierra! Shut up!" Chase said putting his hand over my mouth.
After I finally calmed down he let his hand drop giving me a glare.
I hit him on his shirtless chest. Hard. The sound reverberating across the silent forest.
He hissed "What is your problem?!"
I hit again. "You scared the hell out of me!" I said slapping my arm across his chest this time rather weakly as a wolf slowly walking up to us, distracted me.
The wolf looked up to me and then at Chase, who nodded at it. And then the brown beast ran away.
"What are you doing in the forest in the middle of the night Sierra?" Chase asked me folding his arms across his chest and glaring down at me.
His blonde hair had carelessly been up in all directions over his head in a mess and his blue eyes were drilled into my chocolate brown ones.
I rolled my eyes and fiddled with my long manicured fingers.
"Well I was at this party..." I began and he sighed.
"Of course you were. What was it this time? A dare to walk alone into the forest or cops?" he asked his eyes lighting up with amusement.
That was the thing about Chase. He could never stay mad at me. I grinned up at him giving him a cheeky smile.
"Cops." I said, as he rolled his eyes.
"Come on I'll take you home." He said leading the way.
Chase was the head warrior of the pack. He was incredibly tall, towering over everyone at 6'6. The guy was a giant.
After his mate left him in senior year for his younger brother no less, he was heartbroken. He put in all his pent up anger and energy in training to be the best warrior. To be honest Chase and I weren't close in the beginning. Only after getting dumped by his mate, did he catch my eye. This hot brooding mess in the bars I usually went to soon became my drinking buddy.
Despite popular myths about how werewolves kill themselves when rejected by their mates, they simply couldn't do so. Werewolves were immortal and incredibly hard to kill. Even if they tried to kill themselves. Which was a bonus I think, considering it was very hard to get pregnant with a werewolf. It was a blessing by the moon goddess herself. Wolves had only one child and usually had to wait centuries for that. It was a miracle that I had 2 siblings. Well not exactly, but that was another story. For another time.
I realized we entered the clearing to the pack house and were walking towards it.
"Why are the lights on?" I whispered, walking next to Chase.
"The Alpha of Shadow Blood pack is here." He said darkly.
My eyes widened. The Alpha of Shadow Blood pack was supposed to be ruthless. After his mother was killed by rouges the Alpha who was just 13 at the time killed all the rouges after sneaking out of his pack. He was named the Alpha of hell. He killed rouges on sight and ran a pack on rules. Alpha Maximus. His name caused fear among all the werewolves. It was rumored that he was so cruel that his mate left him, some say that she was killed by vampires but all these were rumors, but rumors start somewhere right?
