"The mark. That mark says that he will have someone to protect his soul from the dark clutches of evil. Someone who can save him from death itself." The witch said.

The mark looked like the sun as though it was etched into his arm. Yet it was faint and white. One could see it only if they got close.

"A girl." She said. "Not born yet... but soon in a night a lot like this. With a similar mark. Only she and she only can save him. They will save each other time and time again. And one of their deaths will be the death of the other. A love..." she said.

"So deep...none of us can comprehend." She continued.

"Their love will have no bounds. This boy... the Prince will tear apart the world if kept apart from her. Their love... hmm..." she said looking at the baby's hands.

"Fates intertwined. And yet the love forbidden. They cannot part no matter what it costs." She said.

Forbidden is their love. But it is love none the less. A love so deep and so pure Aphrodite would be jealous. It's in their blood. Bound by fates and blessed by the goddesses themselves.

It's as old as day. The sun and the moon. One cannot exist without the other. If the sun dies so does the moon. And if the moon dies the sun will destroy everything in its path.

Chapter 22

The forbidden Lovers.

Sierra's and Jake's POV. Paralleled.

As I looked into the long mirror in my room, a feeling a dread settled over me. In every girl's life, there comes a moment... an epiphany of sorts. Where, She says that she couldn't recognize herself in the mirror or she couldn't meet her own eyes... that she couldn't even look at herself for who she had become.

Unfortunately for me, I had seen this look before. Two years back, after she rescued her sister and had nearly gotten raped,. She still couldn't get over the horrors of the night. It was around the same time she had begun drinking and started taking drugs. Sierra remembered how she had nearly died in an overdose.

Looking at herself, she saw the same girl she saw that night she nearly died. Broken, scared and helpless.

She also remembered the one person who had helped her, saved her that night.

Jake Richards.

He was always her backbone. He was always there for her...

And yet today?

The day she needed... No. Not needed... that was too insignificant of a word...

Craved

She craved him. Just to feel his arms around her, the scent of his wild perfume... his heartbeat.

But as the seconds went by, she realized she'd settle for even his presence. Just him... in person.

His steady eyes and sure smile. To tell her that it was going to be okay. That everything would workout.

Just one last time.

She hadn't seen him since yesterday at the rock, and it was driving her insane. Was he okay? Where was he?

Someone knocked on her bedroom door and she found herself hopeful again.

Maybe he did show up after all?

She was disappointed for the umpteenth time that day as her mother stood in the doorway, giving her a soft smile.

"We have to leave soon sweetie." She said.
