SEPTEMBER 2016

It took three days before Maine got to see Alden again.

It wasn't that she was avoiding him; it was simply just because their schedules clashed, and they had no time to see each other. She realized they never really made plans after the concert.

It was okay, though, because she heard from Jade that he had finally began shooting his new action movie, along with another male actor.

Although Maine admits that she had been really reluctant in trying to converse with the star himself, she had spoken to him through text messages. They had exchanged a few messages -- a few boring and awkward messages.

When the day they finally had time to meet, she was nervous. It was like meeting him for the first time all over again, when she knew nothing of him; except now, she knew how surprisingly soft his lips were.

She shrugged the thought away and looked ahead of the taxi she was in, and sighed when she saw it was already five in the afternoon. They were supposed to meet at four, but then she had to sign a couple of contracts and the traffic was shit.

Kim told her that she had to get her own car, because then she wouldn't be experiencing such difficulty in getting to work everyday. (Jade joked that she could just ask Alden to drive her to and from work everyday. Maine pretended she didn't hear that.) She refused, saying that she'd rather buy her Tatay a new wheelchair and hire a private nurse for both him and her brother than to buy a car. And besides, she never learned how to drive. Coleen offered to teach her once, but she turned the offer down because there was no way she'd get a car at that time.

When she got to their meeting place -- the café where they had their first 'date' -- half an hour later, she found him on the same table they sat before: by the window.

She quickly walked towards him with a nervous smile. When Alden saw her walked in, he stood, as if to welcome her. Next thing, they were standing in front of each other with awkward and nervous smiles on their face.

"Hi," she shyly greeted when she realized he wasn't going to talk. "Sorry for being late."

He gave a nod, and gestured towards the few people inside the café. Only then she realized that they were being watched. And so she leaned in to hug, but at the same time, he also leaned in for a peck on her cheek.

Both were startled when they realized their face were so close, so Alden moved his lips sideways to kiss her just beside her lips. She pursed her lips and squeezed his arms. He leaned back and let out a small laugh.

"Let's sit," Alden said and so they did. "So, uh," he bagan again. "How are you? Uh, your recording?"

Maine gave him a small nod. "I'm good. Recording's good."

And then silence.

They liked the kind of silence they always had, except this one. This kind of silence was almost suffocating and all Maine wanted was to breathe. She kept the sigh to herself and avoided Alden's gaze, mentally yelling at herself for not pushing him away the night he kissed her. Because, in all forms, it felt wrong, but the right kind of wrong.
