JULY 2016

Where the hell did these flowers come from?

Maine made sure that when she got home three days after her encounter with Alden Richards-hole (Faye came up with that nickname), she wouldn't let herself be tempted by her phone and open her social media accounts.

She had just gotten home from a long day at the recording studio and her throat was starting to get sore. She wasn't worried; in fact, she was glad that she couldn't sing even for a few days. Not that she was sick of making music—she would never. But then she wanted to rest, but Kim wasn't letting her get even two hours of her working time for siesta.

Like how she does every single day, she hung her coat at the back of her door while she religiously listened to Mayday Parade because damn, they were really good with lyrics. She kicked her sneakers off her feet and started unbuckling her belt. While she unbuckled her belt, she noticed a petal of some yellow flower on the floor. She frowned, knowing that the last time she brought flowers home, they were red roses. Nevertheless, she ignored it. She started walking from her door to the sofa, ignoring the strong aroma of.... tulips and roses. Dropping herself on the sofa, she closed her eyes. She obliviously tried to sleep, when obviously, a sea of flowers surrounded her.

Just when Save Your Heart came on shuffle, she opened her eyes, tugged her earphone out of her ears and immediately got up from her short power nap. She dropped her iPod and earphone on the sofa. She gasped, sinking in the fact that she was indeed in the middle of a sea of yellow tulips and white roses.

"Ahh!" she screamed as if a murderer had just assaulted her. "What the heck?!"

She stood up, jumping a little when she stepped on the petals. She internally screamed because she realized that she would have looked and sounded like a complete idiot if anyone had witnessed her reaction.

So slowly—as if someone was watching her, she tiptoed around the sofa to examine her living room. Her apartment wasn't huge to say the least. The whole apartment was almost the size of the dela Rosa's living room. She couldn't afford to rent a bigger one despite having a few gigs and television performances to get her by. Everything she had earned had been automatically deposited on Dean's account for her brother and Tatay's maintenance and for the house.

The whole living room was literally covered with tulips and roses. On the tiled floor were petals and the tables and dressers were occupied by vases of flowers.

Maine's eyes were widened and she literally had no idea whether she was dreaming or this was just some stupid joke that Jacob had played on her.

She walked through the petals of yellow and white flowers and then grabbed her bag from the floor beside her shoes. She took her new phone out and speed-dialed Jacob's number.

"Nicomaine?" Jacob answered on the second ring.

"Jacob," she breathed out. "Anong ginawa mo?"

"Well, I just left Tristan's condo unit. We just finished planning out your album. Oh, and by the way," Jacob rambled. "You're scheduled to have a photo shoot for the album cover next week and we pl—"
