AUGUST 2016
Maine woke up earlier than usual the next day.
Last night, when Alden dropped her off after yet another spontaneous meal at a restaurant of his choice for dinner, she reminded him of their activities tomorrow. Despite the long day, Maine didn't feel tired at all.
After their lunch, Alden drove them back to the metro. As much as Maine wanted Alden to tour her around Laguna, she let him decide where they would go. She didn't want to trigger memories and sadden the hell out of the poor guy. When they arrived at the metro, none of them felt like going back home yet. So Alden decided to take her to the little Venice, Italy in the metro. They spent the rest of their day there, lurking around and hiding from the people and at the same time, trying to capture as much photos as they can (although none of them thought of taking a selfie). When the sun has set, Alden drove her to the closest restaurant where there weren't much people. And then after that, he drove her back to her apartment.
Although they did not follow what they planned the night before (take Maine to lunch with Alden's family and then drive her back home immediately), Maine was happy. And even though the events that happened earlier weren't something worth remembering, that day was great. Despite the odds, that day was as beautiful as it could have been.
When she woke up the next day, she did her usual morning routine and immediately started picking up the mess she left. She planned on cleaning the whole house with Alden, but then she wouldn't want him to see scraps of papers around, does she? Not that she was trying to impress him. She promises her soul; she's not trying to impress him.
She tidied the living room a bit and the kitchen as well. She prepared the detergent and fabric conditioners they needed and the cleaning materials she had for the house.
When everything was set, she went back to the kitchen to make breakfast. That's when there was a knock on her door, making her look at the wall clock.
It was only seven in the morning. They agreed on eight am when they last spoke.
She reluctantly opened the door and damned herself for not being able to afford a door that has a hole on it to see who it was outside. She wouldn't say she was surprised to see Alden Richards at her doorstep at seven in the morning, because they had agreed to meet today; he was just a bit early.
What surprised her, though, was that Alden wore shorts. He was clad in a simple white shirt and flip flops. He also had a snapback on top of his head. Maine wanted to laugh, because not once in her life had she seen Alden in this attire. In addition to that, he indeed brought his own laundry. He carried a basket full of neatly folded clothes, and on top of it was a plastic bag that had the McDonald's logo on it.
"Are you done checking me out?" Alden asked, waking Maine from her trance and making her blush in the process. "Can you let me in now?"
Maine smiled, stepped aside and let him in. He looked so laid back, like he wasn't Alden Richards at all. She watched him put his basket on the floor and take his keys, wallet and phone out of his pocket. He placed his belongings on the small coffee table in the middle of the small room.
