SEPTEMBER 2016Maine had Alden running around her mind all day.
She had been recording her songs the day after meeting Alden's co-stars and the movie's production crew. Kim told her that they weren't rushing, and that she can always take a break, but Maine insisted that she recorded even just a bit of a new song today.
She woke up feeling determined to spend the day being productive. Perhaps it was the effect of last night's kiss, she thought but shrugged it off immediately because she did not want to think about Alden today. But guess what again? She failed miserably.
When she took a train to go to work today, the guy she sat with reminded her of Alden. The guy wore a white, crisp shirt that complimented his pale skin tone and wore eyeglasses. It wasn't that he looked nearly -- or even halfway -- as good as Alden, but the stranger had a dimple. He didn't look as cute as Alden does but he had a dimple, and that was enough to send her mind flying elsewhere, almost forgetting that her stop was next.
When she walked through a crowd of busy people trying to get to work, she unfortunately heard somebody's stupid ringtone -- Photograph by Ed Sheeran. She was almost furious with that one, who the hell sets a soft, mellow song as their ringtone? It was only for a few seconds, but her train of thoughts that never seemed to stop took her to the night of the ginger's concert. She walked faster, tripping on her way to the pedestrian lane because the stupid song got stuck on her head.
When she stepped inside the office, Jen was there. It was obvious that Jen was going to ask about their stunt, so Maine did her best to avoid her at all costs. But damn it, Jen was as bossy and as persistent as Alden.
"There are pictures going around," Alden's manager interjected when Maine mentioned that she had to record a new song. "And the paparazzis are going crazy. You are all over the tabloids!"
Her eyes grew wide. She didn't think anyone had taken a photo. It was Ed's final song, damn it, why would people take pictures of the people in the crowd instead of the brilliant artist on stage?
She hadn't been on social media for so long. Tristan had warned her to prevent opening her accounts too much, claiming that the people had began to go crazy again. Their rumored break-up was never confirmed, and as much as a lot were devastated that Alden Richards was indeed taken, they had grown quite a beautiful couple for some of his fans. They thought it was cute that he wasn't with somebody whose legs were freaking skyscrapers and skin was perfect, it's almost unreal. For short, they were grateful that it wasn't Yvette Cojuangco. Apparently, even before Maine started 'dating' Alden, they did not like Yvette, even if they really weren't a thing.
"Uhhh, i-it was just... a..." Maine stuttered. "It was Alden. Uh, wala na po akong magawa. I just played along."
She caught a glimpse of Jen's frown, only to have it back to a serious look.
"Look, Maine," she sighed. "If you want to stop this, tell us. Alam kong mali talaga si Alden and I - "
"It's all in the past now," she interrupted. "He apologized, and said he'd make it up to me. Did you know he was the one who got tickets for Ed's show? Hindi nga niya sinabing parte 'yun ng stunt, or whatever we're playing."
Jen frowned again. "It was Tyler who bought the tickets."
It was Maine's turn to frown. "No, sinabi ni Alden na -" she stopped, slowly realizing what was going on. "Oh, I get it. The concert was part of the stunt?"
