The Champion

Chapter 3:

"I-I-I" I stumbled over my words, "I have way to get what now? You aren't kidding me right? This isn't some sort of prank? I swear if you're kidding, I will cut you!" I rambled. Bokaan softly laughed and said; "No Amelia, I'm not kidding, let me tell you the prophecy."

"An evil lurked in the kingdom a hundred years ago, our people went to the oracle to find something to defeat that evil, they came back with a champion. To say everyone was surprised would be an understatement since this champion was not like our kind, he was different than us. The champion helped us defeat the evil but after he did he said that the evil would return and so would he but in a different form, and so would the evil. He told about the six adventurers, five winged and one unwinged. And we waited for a century, but now you have returned, although we haven't spotted the evil yet." He finished.

I was a little overwhelmed by all this, juuuuuuuuuuuust a little. Nope I was incredibly overwhelmed by all this.

"Uh yeah, so uhmm, what exactly is this evil?" I asked, feeling nervous. Bokaan rubbed the back of his neck and laughed uncomfortably, "Well... We don't know. We were thinking about goblins but we're able to handle those. Sooooo..."

I stared at him for a minute. "So what am I even supposed to do? Do I just go out and explore the caves until I find something?" I asked. "Well we do have some magical weapons for you and your companions, so you could do that. But the smarter thing to do is to just go to the top of the Undercave mountain since the champion said that his next form would find instructions there." Bokaan explained.

Okay so to the top of the Undercave mountain and magical weapons for me and my companions and- wait. Magical weapons? So magic exists now?! Oh dear lord what is happening to this world!

Bokaan laughed at the desperation on my face, "So you're telling me that I now have to go to my room and tell my friends that we're just gonna go ahead and defeat some unknown evil with magical weapons on an underground mountain? You do know how strange that sounds, right?"

He scratched his head and said: "Well, yeah, that is pretty much it. But you can only take one friend with you, the others have to stay behind to fight if the evil comes here."

I threw my hands up in the air in exasperation and said; "Now I have to choose who's gonna come with me?! How am I supposed to do that? I want to take Jackson with me but he has Julia and I don't wanna ruin their chances you know, so I should take Katy or Tyler or Luke but I don't really like Tyler so that makes Luke or Katy but-" I rambled on until Bokaan said, well pretty much yelled to get me to hear him; "Just take a vote or something! Or make them draw straws and the one with the smallest straw comes with! Or make them choose a number on a dice and throw it and the number it falls on comes!"

I quickly held my hands up to let him stop yelling, "Okay so those are actually some good ideas. I like the dice one. " I said. "Well then go and do it!" He said, desperation evident in his voice.

"Well yeah, I guess but I don't have a dice..." I said quietly, almost whispering.

Bokaan sighed out of frustration and muttered something under his breath although it was loud enough for me to hear, "I swear, if she wasn't the champion..."

I snickered while he searched a drawer for a dice. He came walking towards me with a small red dice with black spots on it to show the number it presented. He gave it to me with a small, forced smile and ushered me out of the room.

I followed Chian, who had been waiting outside the door, back to our room. When I walked in, dice still in my hand, everyone looked up at me in curiosity. Julia and Jack were laying on Julia's bed, talking and laughing. Katy and Tyler were quietly talking while Luke just lied on his bed with boredom showing on his face.
