A/N: Yes this oneshot  stars Jason from GTLive. I've got a blog on tumblr where I RP as him and I have a verse where he's an AI like Cortana from the Halo series. The prompt was a simple death scene for the Jason of that verse so here you go
He'd protected Doctor Patrick for nearly seven years and he knew his time was almost up. He'd noticed things, noticed himself deteriorate, his synthesized emotions had been destabilizing. He could sense Doctor Patrick knew it too, after all, he was the one who'd created him. In truth, J-50N was scared. He didn't want to die. He'd grown so close to Doctor Patrick and Doctor Cordato, Commander Sharp, Lieutenants Fischbach and McLaughlin. But it was the doctors that he had begun to truly see as friends, almost as family. They treated him like he was human, like them. They made him feel... alive.
He'd shut himself away in his core in Doctor Patrick's lab, he knew that there was a risk of an outburst hurting someone, he didn't want to hurt anyone. He knew he'd terminate in a matter of days so he'd decided to wait it out, holding on to the memories he had stored away of his 7-year life; every moment of joy, of kindness. First coming to life, the first feeling of emotion; the first time he'd felt loved. Laughter with Sharp, Fischbach, and McLaughlin.
                              He wasn't ready to go.
The day he was set to terminate, Doctor Patrick found him. He approached the AI cautiously, so as not to startle him, speaking in a hushed and worried tone.
                              "Jason?"
J-50N looked up, he'd expected this. He knew how much Doctor Patrick... how much Matt cared for him. Even after all this time, he still didn't quite understand why. Emotions were so hard to understand, he couldn't compute them properly. Matthew had told him not to worry, not even humans could understand them. It didn't help.
Matthew crouched down where J-50N sat, extending a hand to turn his friend's face his way. Something caught him off guard, though; the AI seemed to be... crying?
                              "Jason are you–?"
                              "̡D́͢͝o Ì̸ ͜ĺ́o͢͡ò͟k͟͡ ̴̛o̧kay̴ ̷̀t͏̵͟o ̴y̷͘ơ̕u ͟Do̶c̵͟t̡o͠r̵?̶͢"
Matthew flinched, J-50N's voice and form were glitching out and a powerful electrical aura crackled around him.
"I'm sorry... stupid question. But please, call me Matt. We're friends, remember?"
The flickering of J-50N's form died and he visibly stabilized again. But he was silent again too.
"Listen to me, I know you're hurting, that you're scared, but I think I've found a way to extend your lifespan by a few years.."
                              "Y͡o͝u'r̷e͝ ̢l̷ying.̸ T҉h̛e̷r̡e'͜s͡ ̢ņo̧ ̵w͟a͝y to̸ ̀ex̀te͏n͝d̸ the͞ ́l̢if̸e ͟o̢f̛ ̢ ̸an̸ A̡I.̶ I'́ve ̶do̕n͟e̡ a͞l͟l ̶th́e ҉r͡ęad͟i͢n̛g͠,̵ all͝ ̵th̡e͟ ͠r̕es͘ea̛r̶c͝h̛.͜ ̨On͘è ͏of͏ th̸ę ͞b͟e͏n͜ȩf͜it̀s͡ ̷o̧f not ̶ha̵vin̸g ̸t͠ó ͟e͠a̴t o̢r ͞sl͘ee̸p̢ i͘s ̕tḩa͡t yoư ̧c͏an҉ maxi͠mize̸ ef̛f͜i̕ci͠e͡nc̨y ̸an͟d̸ ̛w͟or̡k͢ ͟all͡ ̛hours of͡ t̀he da̡y w̕ith n̶ǫ ̀d̢etŗime͟nt͟al̸ ͝effe̸cts.͠ I̛ k͠n͝ow̛ ̡I'̀m͏ d̡y҉i͠n̴g, M̶at̀t,̶ ̢and͠ ̡th̡er̨e̕'s ̧n͜o ͢wa̷ý t̀o s͜to͘p ͞i̴t͘.҉.͠"̢
Matt flinched again, it seemed that J-50N couldn't speak anymore without glitching. He didn't expect it to get this bad. He removed his glasses and wiped away the tears that were beginning to fall.
"Buddy, I made you, didn't I? A fully sentient and aware AI with his own soul. If I can manage that then I can fix this, I can save you. I promise."
At these words, J-50N snapped, standing and towering over his creator and glaring at him with flashing eyes and a violently glitching form.
                              "I̶ ͞s̀ai̷d doń't ̡lìe̸. ̛T͜he͝ŗe ̢i͜s͏ no͟ ҉way̡ ̶t̛o st̷op t̀h͞i͢s ͟so do̕n'͘t ͝y͠ou D͝A̕RE t̡ry ̕to̧ i͞ńs̷t͠il̢l͡ m͞e ẁith͜ f̀als͞e̢ h͟ope!̢"
Matt stood too, still not as tall as the AI, but able to at least meet his gaze, trying to be strong for his friend.
                              "Jason, I..."
But he didn't know what to say, he was scared too. He didn't want to lose Jason. As much as he wasn't a 'real person,' the AI was his friend, and he wasn't sure how he could continue his work without the other. Stephanie, no, Doctor Cordato was a great scientist but she was only human, just like him. There were things that only Jason could help them with, things that He and Doctor Cordato could never even hope to understand.
Jason looked down at Matt with sorrowful eyes, eyes full of regret.
                              "͜I.̶.͝. ̷I͜ w̴a͠s͡ ̵supp͞o҉s͏ed t̴ơ prote̸ct ̨you.."
Matt gently tried to place a hand on Jason's arm, but due to his unstable state, the scientist was unable to touch him.
"We were supposed to take care of each other... and we did."
Jason smiled weakly, bringing a fading hand to lay atop Matt's.
                              "̛I̕ ̛suppose we di҉d.̴.."̛
He could feel it, feel himself fading, getting weaker. He knew he had only minutes left, maybe even just seconds.
                              "̢M̢a͟͝tt̵̷ ̧Į͠͠.̴́͝.͟͡.͘͠ ̀͡I̵̶ ̶̕͡d̵o̶͢͠n͘'̨t͜͟ ̶wá̵n̷t̛̀ ͢t̶̶o ̀͢go.̵̢.̶͜."̸͘
And with those words, Artificial Intelligence J-50N, otherwise known as Jason Parker, faded from existence, leaving Doctor Matthew Patrick alone.
Matt's tears flowed freely now, he was gone. The man who was arguably his closest friend was gone forever.
And there was no way to bring him back.
