Adam awoke sharply to the frigid chill of an icy wind caressing his body, his body jerking upright and startling a wolf that had been sniffing his prone form.

Immediately, he knew something was very wrong; he lay on cold earth, twigs and dead leaves as opposed to his bed, silver moonlight shone down on him through the leaves of trees that loomed over him and his pyjamas had changed into what could only be described as hunting gear from the 15th century. Not only that, despite not having his glasses, his eyesight seemed flawless. From nearby shadows, a grey wolf slinked towards him, sniffing the air as if to determine if he was a threat. Adam tilted his head, this was likely the wolf from before. He slowly extended a hand to the creature, speaking to it in a soft voice. "Hey there big guy, I'm not gonna hurt you. Do you know where I am?"

The wolf hesitantly approached, cautiously sniffing the human's hand before nuzzling it and allowing itself to be pet.

"There we go, you're a softie really aren't you?" He smiled and scratched it behind the ear, "Now then, do you know where I am?"

The wolf seemed to nod, moving away from Adam and beginning to walk away, stopping just before it was out of sight as if waiting for the man to follow it.

Before following, Adam checked around the area he'd awoken; in a hollow in a tree nearby, he found what looked like a silver crucifix necklace. Puzzled, he took the item and placed it around his neck. As he did, a feeling of safety seemed to settle in his soul, like the thing has protecting him. This sensation puzzled him too, why would that be the case? He wasn't that religious, and it was just a necklace, right?

After completing his search, he patted himself down, searching the various pockets and sheathes his outfit had. He seemed to be in possession of two silver daggers, a phial of what looked like water, and most strangely of all, a whip. He narrowed his eyes at no one in particular, all these items and this location felt familiar to him, like he'd been here before.

He shook his head and followed the wolf through the dark trees, trying to piece together in his mind why this place was so familiar to him. Heck, even the wolf seemed familiar, though something about it was still off.

After a little while, they reached the edge of the forest. The wolf stopped on the edge of a cliff and turned to the trees, waiting for Adam to catch up.

When he, too, exited the trees, he stopped in his tracks, staring at the sight before him.

Now everything clicked; he had  been here before.

He looked down at the wolf, "Please tell me I'm dreaming."

A smile stretched its lupine face and it shook its head.

"Oh goddammit."

He looked back to the edge of the cliff and the sight opposite them; a full moon hanging large in the sky, silhouetting a grand castle. His hand automatically moved to adjust his glasses in exasperation, finding nothing and making Adam resort to just folding his arms and huffing.

"So," he stated, glancing down at the wolf who was looking up at him with great interest. "let me get this straight; I've somehow been transported from Wisconsin to Transylvania. And not just that, I'm looking at Dracula's castle armed with the Vampire Killer and am clearly expected to beat Dracula."

The wolf nodded.

"Dude, I'm not a Belmont. I'm a Lutz. If I'm even gonna have a hope of beating the bat head I'm gonna need the Alucard Spear as well as this whip so unless that's in the castle somewhere, which in of itself suggests that the spear's last wielder died in there, I'm screwed. Everyone in the series who've beaten Dracula have either had combat skill, magic, or both. I have neither."

The wolf just looked up at Adam expectantly, as though waiting for him to figure something out.

He paused, "Then again... so far everyone in the series who beat Drac was going in blind, I know the castle's layout and what items and shit I need." A small smile began to spread across his lips, "Maybe I can outthink the castle and outmanouver the enemies, I do know their attack patterns off by heart after all. I may not have magic or fighting skill, but I have experience." He nodded, his exasperated expression now determined. But that determination faltered slightly as that intrusive thought pushed its way to the forefront of his mind again.

If the spear wasn't in there, he was a dead man.

He shook his head, it had to be; him just being here was an impossible occurance, so he'd be sure to get deus ex machina-ed out of trouble.

His gaze dropped to the wolf again, he had to ask; there was still this niggling feeling in his mind that he knew who this wolf was. "Cornell?"

The wolf nodded and gave another lupine smile.

"Thought as much, but aren't you supposed to be bipedal?"

Cornell almost seemed to shrug, he wasn't sure why he was fully lupine, but thankful he retained all his intelligence. When he'd found this man unconcious in the forest, he'd felt a strong power within him. There werewolf was as puzzled as the human as to what had brought him to this plane, but the latent power he could sense within the other made him sure there was a good reason.

Adam gave a chuckle, "well since this is probably a dream anyway I really shouldn't expect things to make sense." He started his trek to the castle, but paused after a few steps, looking back at the wolf. "Um, think you could come with me? I mean, dream or not I'm still very human and very squishy, I could use a bodyguard."

Cornell shook his head with a small lupine laugh before following. The human was right, he had no supernatural powers to speak of and didn't seem able to hold his own in a fight. He wasn't so sure how helpful he'd be in this form, but he was going to do his damndest to keep Lutz alive.

Adam's hand strayed to the whip on his belt, this had to be a dream, non of it felt real, so if it really was then logic dictated he'd magically know how to use this whip when trouble arose. Even so, his hand gripped it tightly; this wasn't a game. If this was all actually real, he only had one shot as it, no resets, no extra lives.

As he stepped into the shadow of the hellhouse, he could almost hear the epic music in his head.

"Look out Dracula, I'm coming for ya."
