Scene - United

He knew he'd never be able to accept his friends' deaths with grace. He was never that disillusioned. He loved them, loved them dearly, and he knew that seeing them dead would break him.
He just didn't know how.
Would he cry?
Rage?
Go insane?
He didn't know. Asking the others hadn't really helped either; they all avoided answering. Except Grog.

"Vax," the goliath had said, "we've known each other a year now and I've seen your passion. Now I'm not the smartest in this little team but I do know this; whatever may come, we'll beat it. Together."

Vax had given him a look of mixed exasperation and amazement, never had he expected something so profound from the goliath. But he hadn't finished.
"You asked how I think you'd handle us dying. I think that fire will burn bright in your soul and you'll avenge us. Make that bastard pay for striking Vox Machina down. But I'm gonna do my damnedest to make sure that never happens."

"And so will I."

Vax turned, slightly caught off guard by the voice, and saw Keyleth at the door.

"As shall I." Behind her was the familiar red snout of Tiberius.

Vax smiled, it seemed all of Vox Machina had found him. "And why do you suddenly find me?" He enquired. A sigh, "Never mind. I just... thank you. Thank you all. And you have my word that I'll always be here, ready to lay down my life if need be, to protect you."

"That's what we're trying to prevent you idiot." 

The rogue turned, coming face to face with his sister and Trinket.

"The whole point of this is to stay alive, together, for as long as we can."

Trinket gave a small, almost encouraging, little noise, nuzzling Vax's hand with his muzzle.

Vax chuckled, scratching the bear behind the ear. "Thanks Trinket. Knowing you got my back means a lot." He looked up at Vex, "and you too I suppose."

Vex rolled her eyes and playfully smacked her twin upside the head. "Yeah whatever. C'mon man, you look like you've had a rough day. Scanlan's already at the nearest tavern, what say we go join him before he drinks the place dry?"

Vax laughed, "Yeah, let's go."
